"We are made to persist. That's how we find out who we are." Unknown
"L?" "Yes?" "Is it really necessary to follow me?" Ratio asked.
"You already know the answer to that question." L reply in his usual fashion.
"No, I don't see it as necessary. You have been with me day and night. You have been watching me and now when we are released from our bonds, you follow me. I think that you are wasting your time."
"I would think that Ratio-kun knows better that."
"Then follow me if you must." Ratio replied with a small sigh.
L had been watching him closer than ever since he had been cleared of suspicion and the handcuffs removed. Ratio then thought that it would be best to just ignore the detective. However L decided to proceed and ask questions which even Ratio found hard to ignore.
Suddenly L was talking to a faceful of fist which was quickly returned by a kick to Ratio's stomach. It was blocked quickly. A long fight continued. Arms and legs moved with lighting speed and accuracy. Finally Ratio was in the happy position to give L a Liverpool kiss, an opportunity which he gladly took. He walked away quickly while L was still sprawled on the ground.
L got up slowly. He turned away from the direction Ratio had gone in. He walked back to head quarters puzzling over his own thoughts.
--
"Takada-san, sorry that I'm late." Ratio apologised. "Ryuuzaki was hanging around. I didn't want to bring him." He finished with a slight smile.
"I'm glad you didn't." she replied. "I thought that we might see a movie."
"Sure, anything you want to do" Ratio said.
"Did you like the movie?" A voice, which Ratio knew more than he ever wanted too, asked from the shadows.
"What are you doing here, Ryuuzaki?" Ratio asked back wearily.
"Watching you, of course." came the reply in his annoying tone.
"I know that, but,"
"You want to know why I showed myself now? Well, for me it is truly simple. I want you to come with me because I have something to show you back at headquarters."
Ratio turned in the direction of the headquarters and stared walking, knowing that L would not let him rest until he had done what he wanted him to do. Smiling to himself L followed Ratio.
Upon entering the building together, L said "This way, Ratio-kun." Suddenly Ratio found himself entering a labyrinth style of cords, cables, machines and corridors. L seemed to know where he was going so Ratio followed him. Ratio weighted up the possibilities of this being a trap but came to the conclusion that there was a 10 chance that it was. L was thinking about how quickly Ratio had come, the odds had been a 45 chance that he would come, 25 chance that Ratio would had punched him then and there and a 30 chance that he would just walk away. If he was surprised then L didn't show it.
As they took more turns and walked through countless doors. Ratio began to feel a hint of worry. Where was L taking him?
