Little Miss Sunshine
She was the light in the lives of so many people, even if they didn't know it. When they saw her walk by, her head held high as she marched alongside her friends, they were filled with happiness. Happiness that could only come from a child like her.
But it was them who she really changed. It was them who she really affected.
She helped bring love to her little family, even if was bitterly distributed. She brought true feelings out of people, even if when she was gone they turned cruel and disturbing. She helped them find who they really were, even if they turned out to really be terrible people.
And knowing only half of the real story, she walked the cold, hard concrete of the New York City streets by herself, waiting for her one-and-only Max to come and take them for food. They had all separated with the promise that if they ever met up they would have dinner.
Little did she know that they would never meet up. They all left one another, not ever wanting to see each other ever again. They were left to die all by themselves without having a "family" to back them up when battles were fought. One by one they would drop like flies, their lives sucked away by mysterious soldiers from the other side.
She hummed a sing-song tune as she clung tightly to her stuffed bear, angel wings sprouting from its back. Some people who passed by smiled at her, referring her to the real Little Miss Sunshine. But none of them stopped to help the girl who could be no older then six.
With the eyes of a child she saw couples hold hands, and instantly thought of Fang and Max, their relationship turning so serious in so little time. Little did she know that when they were alone they fought, Max trying to run away while Fang was fighting to hang on.
She began to wonder where they had gone. They never left her alone for this long…but then again, they never left her alone.
Were they okay? Were they missing?
Fear cut its way through her little heart like a cold metal knife. What if they were dead?
She began to cry, hugging the small bear tight to her chest. She had somehow wondered into the more dangerous part of the city, where people were scarce and scary.
Rain, like tears, fell from the sky in hard, painful sheets. She cringed as it hit her naked flesh, pelting her face with cruel determination.
"Max." She whined, her voice rough from crying for so long. "Why did you leave me?"
She examined her reflection in a puddle, and was startled to find somebody behind her. She spun around to look into his cruel, blue-gray eyes. His face was beaten with bruises and ravaged by stubble. A bottle of half-drunken beer was settled in his hand while a cruel smile made him look innocent in her eyes.
She smiled through her tears and looked up at him.
"Need some'in little girl? Need som'body totakeyou home?" His words were slurred and mixed together.
"Please, could you? My family's probably somewhere in the woods."
"Well now. Tha's a strange'a place to live. The woods is scary, ain't it? Are you ever scared of livin' in a place like tha?"
"Not when I'm with my family, sir. They wouldn't let anything hurt me!"
"Well, that's good. Considering they're not here right now."
He leaned in closer, grabbing her shoulders and pulling her forward violently. "Didn't they tell you to never talk to strangers?"
All you could hear were her innocent little screams. Little Miss Sunshine was losing her glow, and the poor little thing didn't even know why.

The rain, still falling in sheets, was the only thing to wash her blood away. Her small, lifeless body wouldn't be found for days, and would it take even longer for her "family" to find out.
She died knowing that she would forever continue to be lonely. She died the worst way imaginable.
