Governor Bellingham (343 Kings Street)
Dear Governor Bellingham:
I am well aware of my social standing in the community, but I need to request a dire favor.
I understand the encroachment of I asking you a favor, but it is a matter concerning my torment and light: Pearl. You see honorable Governor I have been teaching pearl her manners, and teaching her the lessons of the the sacred texts within the Holy Book, yet I fear without outside contact Pearl may become ill-mannered and unfit to be around others. With a heavy heart in this matter I must ask you to consider allowing Pearl to attend the town's day school. The school will serve well for her mental and spiritual development. The social contact with other people out-side of the home may sharpen the manners I have worked tirelessly to instill. Pearl spending time in a community setting like the school may help a sense of community and society root in her heart and mind helping her abandon the sprite like ways that concern so many. I also fear for her spiritual health for I can only teach her all of the lessons I have learned from carrying the scarlet letter upon my bosom. Pearl needs to see the deep meanings in the Holy Stories I am unable to fully reveal to her. Please take my request into consideration without holding Pearl to the prejudices held to me. Pearl's only father is in heaven she needs to be able to serve him and her community to her utmost with out fail.
Sincerely: Hester Prynne
