Who Inspires Me
Jack Aaron Hotchner
Age: 8
I am inspired by a very special person. She is my mom. Even though she is dead, she still brings inspiration to me. I feel like she has been dead a very long time, but it also feels like she was alive just yesterday. I can remember exactly how she smelled. And I remember how soft her hands were, no matter what she was doing.
Compared to how long my life will be I didn't get to spend a lot of time with my mom. But in the time I did get to spend with her, she taught me a lot of things.
Her hugs taught me that I should always love people. Her smile taught me to be kind. Her hands, always working on laundry and dinners and homework and things for me, taught me that I should always help people, even if they aren't people I'm related to or friends with. She also taught me to patient because she never yelled at me, even if I spilled grape juice on the white carpet. Or got grass stains on my new pants that she told me not to get dirty.
Mom is gone, but I can still feel her right next to me, like she'll be waiting for me when I get home. I love her, and nothing can ever change the things she taught me, even if I make mistakes and forget the lessons sometimes.
