Jackson is my original character, but I don't own CSI.
To all my readers in the US, Happy Independence Day!
Once again, a story inspired by a real event. I love going to concerts, and saw some cute kids dancing at a recent one I went to. So, of course, I thought it would make a good story! Also, I thought it would be cool to have a story where Doc Robbins plays in his band, like he did in the season 8 episode Lying Down With Dogs. Hope you all enjoy...and pretty please review!
Doc Robbins and his band were invited to play at a local concert and fireworks show, so he invited everyone at the lab to come. Jackson was especially excited. He'd never been to an outdoor concert before.
The weather turned out really nice, and everyone set up their lawn chairs and picnic blankets.
"Aunt Judy, will Uncle Doc be here soon?" Jackson asked as Greg set up his chair.
"They should be on after this band," Judy said.
Sure enough, the band on stage finished their song and Doc Robbins and his band were introduced. Jackson and everyone cheered loudly as they took the stage.
Doc and the band played a classic rock song and Jackson and Super Dave's son Joshua happily danced. Greg loved seeing Jackson so happy.
Jackson saw Morgan swaying and dancing in her chair and rushed to her. "Come on, mama! I want you to dance with me!"
Morgan and Super Dave's wife Amy happily danced with the boys, and Greg loved watching his family enjoying themselves. As Judy took video, Morgan looked over at Greg and smiled. "I think your daddy would like to dance with us," Morgan said to Jackson.
"Yeah!" Jackson happily said. Greg shook his head no, but Jackson and Morgan pulled him to his feet. "Come on, daddy!"
Greg had to admit he enjoyed dancing with his wife and son. When the song ended, everyone clapped and Greg pulled Morgan and Jackson into a hug.
When Doc's band finished, Jackson happily rushed to hug him as he joined Judy and their friends. "You did a good job!" Jackson happily told him.
Soon the sky grew dark, and it was time for the fireworks show. Everyone enjoyed the show, and Jackson especially loved being with his friends.
As the event ended, everyone gathered up their things and left. Jackson didn't want the night to end, but he was tired. "Ready to go home, Jacks?" Greg asked.
"Nope!" He said with a yawn.
"Aw," Amy said. "Neither is Joshua." She gestured to the three-year-old sound asleep in Dave's arms.
Everyone said goodnight and headed home.
Later, Greg tucked Jackson into bed. The little boy sleepily smiled at his father. "Daddy, I glad you danced with me an' mama."
"Me, too," Greg said with a smile.
Jackson yawned widely as Scruffy curled up at his feet. "Cause we got the bestest family!"
"Yeah," Greg said with a warm smile.
"An' Uncle Doc did a good job!"
"Yeah, he did. Did you have a good Independence Day?"
"Uh-huh," Jackson said as he closed his eyes. "The bestest part was bein' with you!"
Greg smiled. "That was the best part for me too." He gently kissed Jackson's forehead. "Love you, Jacks."
"Love you, daddy."
Greg loved just watching his son. It was truly a wonderful Fourth Of July.
The End
