Hagrid decided that it would be okay to get a mini Basilisk, because it would be much easier to control than a full sized one. Soon he lost all control of it. Thankfully, it only victim was Nearly Headless Nick.
Hermione was pushing his floating form through the Great Hall to the nurse. The ceiling fan...
Due to that, Hermione pushed Nearly Headless Nick right into it. His head fell to the ground. Hermione gasped, she had just beheaded Nearly Headless Nick! He was now No Longer Nearly Headless Nick. The she noticed that the ceiling fan...
So it really wasn't her fault! Right? Because the ceiling fan... Lets say that once more: the ceiling fan... Now that that fact is imprinted into everyone's mind, lets continue with the story.
Hermione took his head and continued pushing him to the nurse. Madam Pomphry still had the Mandrake potion from second year, and revived him in an instant. Hermione asked to be not mentioned who beheaded No Longer Nearly Headless Nick. Madam Pomphry agreed. Hermione ran to the library to figure out how to fix this all.
No Longer Nearly Headless Nick woke up and Madam Pomphry explained that while petrified, he was beheaded by a ceiling fan that... No Longer Nearly Headless Nick was ecstatic. He floated to the dungeons to write a letter to Sir Patrick. He could finally join the Headless Hunt! Wasn't life grand? This was the best thing that ever happened to him. He couldn't wait to thank who ever did this to him. After owling his letter, No Longer Nearly Headless Nick gave Madam Pomphy a visit and begged to know who beheaded him. She gave in and told him. He went to pay her a visit and to thank her.
-In the meantime-
Hermione formed a plan. She went to visit Hagrid. "Hagrid, I need your mini Basilisk."
"I don't know what you're talking about. I don't have it." (Hagrid learned how to talk properly)
"Hag-rid! I *need* it. Please."
"All right, anything for you Hermione."
-Back to normal time-
Hermione took the Basilisk, a needle and some un-cutable thread.
No Longer Nearly Headless Nick met up with Hermione in the hall. She took out the mini Basilisk and petrified him. Then she sewed his head back on. He was now Once Again Nearly Headless Nick. She then took him to Madam Pomphry, who cured him once again.
Once Again Nearly Headless Nick woke to find his head reattached to his body. Hermione was smiling and still had the needle in her hand. If Once Again Nearly Headless Nick had real hands he would have strangled her.
Hermione was oblivious to everything. She was simply happy that she had fixed everything that had been done by the ceiling fan that...
Dumbledore looked around the Great Hall. He noticed that the ceiling fan... He decided to warn everyone. "Everyone, watch out for that ceiling fan that is unusually low today. Thank you"
Down in the dungeons, Nick received an owl.

If he wasn't already dead, Once Again Nearly Headless Nick would have tried to kill himself. Instead he planned the death of Hermione Granger.
