Exit Wounds
Prompt: Exit Wounds- The Script

My hands are cold, my body's numb.
I'm still in shock, what have you done?
My head is pounding, my vision's blurred.
Your mouth is moving, I don't hear a word.

When Derek saw Emily enter the conference room, he was beyond shocked. He couldn't believe it. He didn't hear anyone, all he heard was a pounding in his head. She was speaking, but he didn't hear anything. He didn't even feel anything when she reached out and hugged him. What did she do? How was she back?

And it hurts so bad that I search my skin for the entry point were love went in.
And richocheted and bounced around, and left a hole when you walked out.

He could still remember seven months ago when she walked out of the bullpen and out of their lives. She died, but now she was standing in front of him. It just didn't make sense. He loved her, but now all he felt was hatred.

I'm falling through the doors of the emergency room.
Can anybody help me with these exit wounds?
I don't know how much more love this heart can lose.
And I'm dying from these exit wounds.

Seven months ago, he rode in the ambulance with her to the hospital. He couldn't lose her. He loved her. He couldn't let someone he loved get away.

When JJ stepped out and told him the news, he felt like he had died with her.

Where they're leaving, scars you're keeping.
It marks a battle, still feels raw.
A million pieces of me on the floor.
I'm damaged goods for all to see.

This is living, but without the will.

Everyone left the conference room after greeting and hugging Emily. Derek just walked out without saying a word. His head was still spinning.

I'm blacking out.
I'm shutting down.
You left a hole when you walked out.

Derek couldn't speak to her even if he wanted to. He knew that if he did, he would probably blow up at her for everything. When she walked out of their lives, he was left with a hole in his heart. He lost the only woman he'd ever truly loved. And, now, even though she was back, that hole still remained.

Show your scars.
That's who you are.

One day, Derek finally decided to speak to Emily.
"Derek, I am so sorry." Emily stated, and Derek just nodded to that. "This was the only way for me and everyone on the team to be safe. I never wanted to leave you. I wanted to be with you forever."

Emily began to cry. Derek didn't say a word, he just pulled her into a hug.
"Derek," Emily said through sobs, "I'm scarred after this. I'm never going to be able to forget what Doyle did to me."
"Emily, we all have scars. They make us who we are."

Emily smiled and said, "I still love you, Derek. I haven't stopped loving you for seven months. The only thing that made me keep fighting was the thought of being able to see you again."

Derek smiled and pulled her into a tight hug. He promised he would never let her go.
