Mac's Apartment
Washington, DC
"So, uh, were you ready for all this?" She asked.
He crossed his arms and looked away, "Were you?"
She licked her lips and sighed, "Well I've been dreading it for a while, but now that its here, it doesn't seem all that bad." She paused and looked around, "I'm just taking it one day at a time."
All he could do was nod.
She walked over to the window and stared out. Shefelt him walk over to her. Her window was open so there was a bit of a breeze but it felt good.
"Mac, are you alright?"
"To be honest, I don't know. I should be happy that I'm going to San Diego for a new job, but for some reason…I'm not. I don't know why."
"Well that's normal. Mac you've had this job at JAG for nine years. You're leaving to go to a new place and start a new job. You're leaving behind friends you've had for nine years and work that you've accomplished." He took a breath, "And worst of all my best friend is leaving and is going to be over 1,000 miles away."
"Yeah well my best friend is going to be over 1,000 miles away too."
He put his hand on her shoulder and gave her a encouraging squeeze. "Mac can I ask you a question?"
"Sure. Go ahead." She said, staring out the window.
"If you could take anything at all with you to San Diego, what would be the most important thing that you would take?"
She laughed, that was REALLY easy, no thinking would involved with that one, "That is simple and it's not a thing."
"What would it be?"
She turned around to face him and could feel her heart racing. He was a few inches away from her and yet she wished she was in his arms. "One simple word…you." She whispered, not really being able to talk.
"Guess what?" Harm said.
"What?"
"We have another thing in common."
"And what is that?" She wanted him to kiss her so badly.
"You're the most important person I would want to take with me."
She stared at him, seeing a hint of love in his eyes. "Harm…"
"Sarah, I need to tell you something. This isn't the easiest thing to say. You know how hard it is for me say things like this and I was afraid that I'd mess it up that's why I didn't say it earlier and…"
"Harm!" 'He's rambling again…god he's so sexy when he does that' she thought.
"Sorry. What I'm trying to say is that…" He paused and looked into her eyes. "Sarah…" he started. 'Wow this must be serious; he's used my name twice in one minute.' "I'm in love with you."
At first she had a stunned look on her face and he was worried if he had said the wrong thing. Just when he thought he should take it back she leaned in to meet him halfway. He leaned down to her and they met in a kiss full of passion and love. They both deepened it, wrapping their arms around each other and pulling each other closer, if at all possible. They pulled away a few seconds later, gasping for breath.
"I'm…in love with…you too." She got out in spurts as she tried to catch her breath and smiled at how good it felt so say that after nine years. "Funny how it takes us on the verge ofbeing over 1,000 miles apart from each other, to get us to admit our feelings."
"Yeah well…I guess I never had the courage."
"Its not your fault, I should have worked up the courage and told you a while ago." A huge smile spread across her face, "It felt good to say it."
"Yeah it did didn't it? There's only one problem"
She looked at him with a quirked eyebrow. "What?"
"What are we going to do about our jobs?"
"Let fate decide." And with that he covered her lips with his again….
