Harry's fight with Lord Voldemort finally found an end, but at what dear costs? Ron, Hermoine, Hagrid, everyone he was close to have been taken away from him. Bereft of all these bonds, what is he to do now?
Darkness' Poison
And so he stands there. The sky above him is dark, clouded, it rains. It is not such a nice, refreshing rain as often occurs in spring. It is the exact opposite. It falls hard on the ground, soaks through clothes immediately and chills the very bone. Each little drop of rain seems to shine from within itself with darkness, as if to emphasize the darkness in him.
And so he stands there not noticing the rain and looks up to the sky, at dark clouds.
Darkness.
He doesn't understand. They don't know.
Next to him is a long queue of people all dressed in black; he knows that. But when he looks at them his blurred sight just shows him a serpent of darkness. The people are coming past him, each one stopping in front of him, talking to him in hushed voices. The words aren't reaching his mind. He just notices their gazes filled with pity for him. And with each person passing the only thing he feels, is how this serpent is plunging another one of its poisoned teeth in his body, poisoning him with the pain of knowledge.
And so he stands there, looking at the most ridiculous sign marking an end.
Now he understands. And they? They still don't know that even though they are there he is alone.
Smothering darkness.
And so he stands there looking at this stone marking the last end – telling a story for those who want to listen. Then he smiles, understanding at last - he just regrets that he doesn't know more of this story.
The sky is dark, the rain radiates it's unholy darkness, the black serpent is still there. That won't change … not yet at least.
And so he leaves into his own darkness.
It rains.
