Author's notes: According to the book, Achilles mother was present at Patroclus's burning. Unbetaed, reviews are loved!
Summery: Those who were there knew what legend left out.
The legend says he died when that arrow pierced his heel, and his enemy finished him.
But for those who knew him…for those who were there, they knew the real moment the great Achilles fell to his death. They knew he died days before, they knew the moment all life left his eyes and when soul was torn from body.
His loyal guards and his mother stood watch as he collapsed to the ground, sobbing against the body of his love. His grief was beyond those who witnessed imagination; they'd never seen anyone act in such agony, never seen that level of grief. Nor would they ever see it again.
But his mother understood…as well as any could. She could still remember the moment they met. Achilles was angry to be given the boy, it hadn't taken long before that emotion changed to sometime more intense. More powerful, and far more controlling.
She's watched as they bonded, becoming tighter then brothers, stronger then lovers, she watched, as they became each other's other half.
She watched as her son screamed in agony. She'd promised him death if he accepted this fate. She wished silently, that she had told him that his soul would die before his body ever experience the first pains of death.
