Chapter 1

It took me months to figure him out. I never understood why he does the things he does. One moment he was all happy and fun, the next moment he was a grouch and depressed. I always figured he was bipolar, but boy was I wrong! It was my birthday, my 14th birthday I was finally old enough to drive a car! I was sleeping in my bed as I usually do every morning, but it was so strange. It wasn't 12 pm like the time I usually wake up, no it was 3 am. I woke up to hear my parents yelling, they weren't fighting about their usual house mortgage this time they were fighting about, me. I got up from my bed and pressed my ear up against my door. My parents were downstairs while I was in my room upstairs it sounded as if they were next door though. The only words I could make out from their fight was that my mom wanted me to go out and fight in the army, while my dad wanted me to stay here and rent out a hotel. Listening to them I became depressed. I didn't like either of their ideas. I understand that I'm now 14 and that I really need to start thinking about what I'm going to be doing with myself 4 years from now, but I really didn't want to start thinking about all yet. I was a lighting bolt flashing to my bed once I heard my parent's footsteps pounding up the stairs towards my room. I lay in my bed pretending to sleep. Once they opened up my door, they looked inside to see me then shut the door. They were outside of my door, talking. My dad was always an easy guy to sucker into your side of the fight. If you were fighting with him over something he would always give in. I lay in my bed praying that he wouldn't sucker in to my mom's side of the fight. There was a huge CRASH I sat straight up in my bed. It was a glass sound, It sounded as if one of them cracked a vase on the wall. I didn't care whether my mom would get mad at me for not being a sleep. I ran out into the hallway to find the biggest shock that nobody would ever want to see the sight I saw on my 14th birthday.
