Okay, I noticed that, in Goblet of Fire, Crouch Jr./Moody went to a lot of trouble to try to get Harry to touch the Cup. I mean, entering him, helping him cheat throughout the tasks, then eliminating the competition. All for a plan that wasn't exactly foolproof. What if it hadn't worked? If Harry had made Cedric take it?

They would use Plan B of course!

Disclaimer: I have some kind of claim on this storyline, but not on the characters

Plan B

Third Person POV

Barty Crouch Junior, disguised as Mad-Eye Moody, was cursing as he waited outside the maze. Harry had told Cedric to take the cup. Now everyone would know it was a portkey and Harry would still be here. Thinking quickly, Crouch/Moody picked a rock off the ground and tapped it with his wand. It glowed blue for a moment before reverting to its original color and level of luminosity.

Then Harry emerged from the maze, escorted by McGonagall and Hagrid. McGonagall left to go talk to some ministry officials and Crouch/Moody saw his chance. He limped over to Potter and faked concern.

"Potter, are you all right?" Harry looked up at him, worry clouding his eyes.

"Cedric... He's gone. The cup was a portkey!" explained Harry frantically. Crouch/Moody nodded, pretending to take this into consideration.

"Here, take this while I sort everything out." Crouch/Moody held out the enchanted rock to Harry, who didn't hesitate in taking it. Suddenly he and the rock disappeared in a flash of blue. Crouch/Moody smiled, he would be rewarded for this.

There we are. I think he should have done something like that in the first place. So simple. But no, entering him in the Tournament was so much more entertaining.
