Birthday Confession

Sasori glanced at the window beside him. Today is his birthday, but it doesn't feel special like it should. He sighs; it's just like all his birthdays before. Nothing special. He honestly just no longer feels the need to celebrate it. It's useless.

He has been keeping his birthday this way since his parents died. That day had successfully turned him, from a happy-bubbly child, to a cold and silent child that didn't even look like an eight year old.

His Grandmother was really worried about her grandson's sudden change in personality. The red haired child didn't play at the park like other kids his age, instead he took an interest in puppetry and woodworking, He spent his childhood with knife and screwdriver in hand. What's worse is that he only leaves his room to eat or go to school. A gloom aura was always around him, making other kids instantly avoid him. Though Sasori didn't seem to mind, in fact, he preferred it that way.

So this is how his life goes until he is 12, but all of that changed the day a hyperactive blonde boy came and tore his peaceful loneliness apart.

*FLASHBACK*

"Class, please meet our newest friend, Deidara." Said the teacher as the blonde boy beside her started waving his hand to the class. All the girls blushed when the boy smiled. Not too long after that the whole class was swooning over Deidara. Well, all accept one red haired boy of course.

Sasori just stared blankly at the blonde and moved his eyes back down to his book. It doesn't matter to him, no matter if there are one or a thousand new students, as long as he can study and be left alone. This kid would not talk to him anyway; he seems to be the popular type.

Being torn from his thoughts, he feels a poke on his shoulder, making him turn around quickly.

There in front of him was the blonde, it surprised him to the point that he blurted out "What?"

"Hi, I'm Deidara, what's your name?" Deidara asked cheerfully.

"It's none of your business." Sasori glares, before he shifts his brown eyes away from the sapphire ones. He glances around the room only to see all his classmates staring at him in shock 'ugh, why would a popular boy want to talk with the loner' Sasori thought bitterly.

Little did he know that Deidara was a very persistent child. "Well I think it's my business seeing as how I would like to get to know you." He says as he takes the empty seat next to the red head. Deidara watched the other boy, until finally Sasori looks at him with his deep brown eyes.

"Your going to sit here and wait until I answer our question, aren't you?" Sasori says with a sigh. He is actually a little bit surprised. Usually after he says a few words and sends a death glare, everyone would drop all intentions of talking with him. This brat was either really brave...or really dumb

Deidara nodded hopefully. "It's Sasori" The red head finally answers.

"It's a cool name, Sasori-danna!" Deidara says with a wide grin on his face.

That was the first time he met Deidara.

*END OF FLASHBACK*

Ever since then, Sasori's dull life changed. Deidara always crossed the limits that he made for himself. Like the first time Deidara dragged Sasori out of his house promising he would do his homework on his own if Sasori went with him. When Deidara forced Sasori to let him enter his bedroom was another line crossing time.

Of course, there are times that Sasori can't keep up with his friend's attitude. Like when Deidara accidentally broke the arm of a puppet, which was a replica of his mom. Sasori was really mad at him and didn't want to talk to him anymore, until a few days later he found the boy in front of the house, waiting for him to open the door in the pouring rain.

And there are times when Sasori shows that he cares about his friend. One of them is when Sasori decided to skip one-day of school to accompany Deidara as soon as he heard that the blonde had a high fever. It's actually a wonder, really, as to why Sasori can feel thousands of feelings just because of an energetic, blonde bra-

"Danna!" Sasori quickly looks at the boy beside him. "What?" he says in an annoyed tone.

"You've been spacing out for, like, half an hour! And you have this creepy smile on your face! It's really freaking me out! And you didn't even hear what I said!" Deidara said with a pout.

Sasori sighed at him." And? You really wore me out, brat. What did you say, then?"

"Well, I said that we're going to the mall after school." Deidara answered as he trying to pull out a little bug from his blonde hair. "Since when did I agree to that?" Sasori retorted at his friend, he slaps Deidara's hands away, then takes the small bug and throws it out the window.

"O come on, Danna! Please!" Deidara said with wide puppy-dog eyes. When Sasori groans at him, Deidara already knows that he's going to win.

XxX

Sasori looks at his watch. 06:54, as he promised, Deidara dragged his Danna to the mall after school, and right now, all Sasori wants is sleep. Going to the mall with Deidara was not a calm activity, it's quite the opposite and it really wore him out. But still the boy insists to go to Sasori's house. Sasori really didn't care if Deidara wants to sleep over at his house as long as the brat keeps his mouth silent.

Finally Sasori arrived at his house; he quickly opens the door thinking his grandma is already at home. But, he is surprised to find the house with no lights on. Then he heard the sound of shuffling. He steps inside carefully and glances at his grinning blonde friend.

Wait- grinning?

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY!"

Sasori jumps a little at the sudden shouts. He glances around to see some students from school, his cousins, and his grandma. Then he looks at his best friend, who is smiling at him.

"Happy birthday Danna!" He whispers. Sasori smiles softly at him before answering," Thanks brat."

They start to congratulate him, and when it comes to his grandma, "You're really lucky to have a friend like him, you know? He set up your whole party and got all of us here." She said with a smile. Sasori just shrugged at that, but he glances at Deidara with kind gaze. "So…When are you going to tell him?" she says out of nowhere, a smirk visible on her face.

"What do you mean, old hag?" he asks with a bored look, even if he's slightly panicked inside. He glares at his grandma as the woman keeps smirking at him, as if saying 'Don't play dumb, Saso.'

He groans at that and looks back at his blonde friend."I won't say anything to him." He finally answers. His grandma glances at him then Deidara, "You should tell him, rather than having him find out on his own."

"Thank you for the advice, wise one, it really helped." He replied sarcastically. His grandma just rolls her eyes at that. Sasori finally sighed, "I can't. Maybe he likes someone that's better than me. He thinks of me as nothing more than a friend anyway. "He says calmly but there's a hint of sadness to it.

Chiyo just keeps silent at her grandson's obvious despair. "Well, you at least have to try." She says before turning around to talk with some guests, but she stops momentarily. "And just so you know, I never raised a coward." Sasori just smirks at that.

He decides that he will talk with Deidara after the party.
