BANNED SONG
AUTHOR'S NOTE/DISCLAIMER
Companion piece to "That Time Of Year" taking place a few days after. Once again using a name from Harper's Island, which belongs to CBS, but this isn't a crossover.
The party was in full swing. Stefan Salvatore watched as Elena Gilbert danced to the music that was playing loudly.
"So Brother, how come you're not out on the dance floor with your girlfriend?" Damon asked, suddenly appearing beside him.
"How'd you get in?" Stefan wondered.
"Cute little thing answered the door and let me in," Damon wondered. Stefan stared at him. "Oh, don't look at me that way. I didn't compel her," he continued. "You'd think he turn the music down before someone calls in a noise complaint," he said.
"It's a Lockwood. What do you expect?" Stefan asked. On the dance floor, Elena danced energetically. Tyler had had a good idea. Just forget about Wakefield and party.
"Oh, my gosh. Look at who's a party queen again!" Caroline Forbes shouted, as she and Bonnie Bennett approached the girl.
"What can I say? Tyler had a good idea!" Elena laughed. Bonnie and Caroline shared a look and then laughed in surprise. This is crazy. They don't even usually like each other, Caroline thought. Then again, teaming up to fight a psychopath could cause anyone to bond. Just then, there was a howl.
"What was that?" Stefan asked as he and Damon tensed. However, hearing someone talking, they realized it was just part of the song.
Hey there, Little Red Riding Hood, you sure are looking good. You're everything that a big bad wolf could want.
"Seriously? Sam the Sham and the Pharaohs?" Damon queried.
"What are you talking about? It's a good band," Stefan defended. Hearing the lyrics, Elena froze. Elena looked around frantically. Where was she? Just then, the music started.
Who's that I see walkin' in these woods? Why it's Little Red Riding Hood
Hey there Little Red Riding Hood, you sure are looking good. You're everything a big bad wolf could want.
"Something's wrong," Stefan realized and he and Damon were instantly by Elena's side.
"Elena, what is it? What's wrong?" Stefan asked. She whimpered. Meanwhile, Tyler was quickly making his way to where the deejay was.
"Yo, Lockwood. What's up?"
"Turn this song off! Do it now!" The kid did so, switching to a rock album. Then, Tyler headed for where he had seen Elena.
"Elena! Elena, hey!" he called, approaching the girl. She whimpered, and pulled away, but then leaned into Tyler.
"It's off. It's off. You know I would never allow that song in my house," he assured, wrapping his arms around her. Elena shuddered, and then pulled away.
"I'm sorry. I thought I was doing better," she apologized.
"Hey, it's okay. It's the first time you've had to deal with this without your folks. Of course you're gonna be more on edge," he said.
"What are you guys talking about?" Damon wondered.
"Elena, what's going on?" Stefan wondered. Elena just ignored him and let Tyler hold her. When she finally stopped shaking, she pulled away.
"Thank you, Tyler," she said softly.
"Any time," he promised. Then, before he went back to mingling, he gave her hand a quick squeeze. She smiled, knowing that no matter what else happened in their lives, he would always have her back when it came to the memories.
THE END
