"Well if you're worried about me that much, you can always walk with me," she said without turning to face him, her hand already pulling down the handle to step outside. Cloud stared at her, stunned that she could disobey him so many times. Did she not understand how dangerous it was for her? He pulled a face as she walked out and realised he had no choice but to follow her. He didn't care how often she said that she was used to danger, he wasn't going to risk her safety!
"Aeris, wait!" he called, grabbing his jacket and closing the door behind him. The Ancient slowed her pace down and gave a cheeky smile over her shoulder. He ended up having to run after her so that he could walk by her side. His sword was still sitting in it's sheath, which was held on his back by a strap over his shoulder. Aeris had just wanted to walk to relax but Cloud obviously had no plans of relaxing.
"Cloud, this walk is to relax so…relax," she soothed with a small giggle. Cloud furrowed his brows but he did not glance around nervously anymore.
They walked on in silence; Aeris with her hands behind her back and Cloud with his in his pockets.
"The sunset is so beautiful," she whispered, stopping to admire the way the sun made the sky glow a lovely golden colour. Cloud turned in the direction and shrugged.
"Yeah, I suppose. I saw loads of them in Soldier though," he said.
"I never saw one that I can remember," she said. "The plate in Midgar prevented that,"
"Mmm," Cloud agreed, unable to come up with a much better answer.
"I always thought of it as romantic, you know? For two people to watch the sunset, or sunrise," she explained, turning to him. He glanced at her, blushing a little at the realisation of her words.
"You think?" he asked nervously scratching the back of his head. She smiled and gently entwined his spare hand with hers.
"I hope so," she said, lowering her eyes in embarrassment of her actions. Cloud let the hand in his hair drop to his side and gave hers a reassuring squeeze, causing her to look up into his eyes.
"Me too," he admitted in a barely audible whisper. Aeris hardly had time to process the words when she felt his lips against hers, giving her a soft, chaste kiss. It didn't last long, less than five seconds but it still filled Aeris with a warm glow.
"Come on, I came out to walk not to make out," she teased, tugging his hand to lead him down the path.
"We weren't making out," Cloud replied smartly before giving a smirk. "However…"
