Every decade has its great love songs. But none more so than the 1960s. That time was all about peace, love and understanding. One of my favorite love songs from this era is "Never My Love" by The Association. Many fanfics on here have been inspired by songs, but some don't put in the lyrics word for word. This one won't either, but the plot will be adapted from the lyrics of the song.
DISCLAIMER: Pokemon is not mine, it belongs to Nintendo.
May Maple was a normal young adult. Having just turned 21, she was very curious about her future. She won a few Grand Festivals throughout her career as a Pokemon Coordinator. Her boyfriend Drew Rose also won some Grand Festivals during his career as well.
As the two coordinators rose up the rankings, the media made note of a possible romantic relationship between the two. Truthfully, although they were rivals in one sense, they really did have romantic feelings for each other. This became public knowledge when May announced during a press conference after a Grand Festival win at age 18 that she and Drew were indeed dating.
As the two grew older, May began to have some fears about the relationship ending. But she had kept them to herself for so long. The two were really happy being with each other. Now that both were 21, the two decided to take a couple years off from being coordinators in order to focus on their relationship, as well as venture into new things.
Drew began performing stand-up at comedy clubs across Hoenn, with May as manager. May herself became a songwriter, writing songs for the likes of One Direction and other popular pop acts of today. When they were not doing their new jobs, they spent a lot of time doing the usual suspects – that is, what couples usually do.
When May was asleep at night, she began to have nightmares that Drew would leave her. She did not say anything about it for a while, but it began to affect May's life, giving her writer's block in regards to songwriting and causing her to sleep at random intervals every day.
Drew noticed this, but May kept insisting she was fine. Until one day.
"Drew, I, I have been thinking about things these past few weeks. I have had trouble sleeping, and I think I should tell you why. I'm starting to wonder if there will come a time you will grow tired of me." May finally opened up to Drew.
Drew had only three words to say, "never my love". May was not convinced, "I would love to believe that, but I really think that this heart of yours will lose its desire for me."
Drew repeated the words "never my love", adding "May, what makes you think love will end when you know that my whole life depends on you?"
May then said, "Drew, I just cannot get over the fear that you will change your mind and you will not require me".
After once again saying "never my love", Drew told May "how can you think love will end when I've asked you to spend your whole life with me? May, I'm telling you, these fears are not going to be realized. I love you, and nobody else. All this time I claimed I gave roses to your Beautifly, I was really giving them to you."
May was finally convinced, "you're right Drew, I cannot get ahead of myself. You're the one for me as well. I hope we can have a family together. Our children then can become coordinators, and so can our grandchildren, and our great-grandchildren, and so on and so forth."
Drew said, "don't get too ahead of yourself May, we still have to have the children. Dawn and Kenny are taking it slow too. There is so much time for us to do all the things we want to do. As long as I have you, I have nothing to worry about."
May and Drew finally decided to have a romantic night together, consisting of a dinner for two, and a movie. In the end, love prevails.
THE END
Well what do you think? I will plan on making some similar stories over the next few months. I would really love to go to the 60s.
