Always There

Disclaimer- I don't own Naruto. However the poem within is mine.

Authors Note- I write poetry. It's a hobby. Here's a poem I wrote that I turned Naruto-esque. Enjoy.

At the end, we're forced to start again.

With shaking hands, Naruto clutched his head. "Unnn... Not again... Leave me alone..." And if someone was near, they would probably claim that Naruto had finally gone insane. They would use that as the reason to finally get rid of the demon child. To them, getting rid of him would be doing the village of Konoha a favor.

We're forced to face our demons within.

He looked up through the cage bars, only to see cold dark eyes stare right back at him. "Uhhhh go away!" Naruto yelled up to his literal inner demon. "Leave me alone!" All he got in response was a cold, haunting laugh.

Even through insanity, we look for the light.

Somewhere in the world of reality, Naruto had felt someone come near him. He was trying to cling to the real world, to find out who it was. But he was being drawn into the depths of his mind, and down the ever familiar hallway that led to his all familiar inner struggle. Naruto clenched his eyes shut, willing himself to return to the real world, however he was loosing consciousness, and he was being taken over... Or so it felt like anyway. One could concider a feeling of loosing self will, as being taken over...

He was always there with me, ready to fight.

Naruto had been staring off into space for far too long. It was as if he was a hollow shell. Sasuke knew better. This wasn't like Naruto at all! Something was wrong... Even as he laid a hand on his normally energetic teammate, he didn't get a response. Now he was really worried. "Forgive me Naruto." He closed his eyes and opened them again, only to reveal the sharingan. The next thing he knew, he was standing next to the blond. Sasuke looked up, only to see eyes as bloody as the sharingan. "Naruto... How have you been dealing with this for so long?" Sasuke wrapped his arms around the trembling blond. He glared up at the Kyuubi. A paw came through the bars of the cage and tried to claw at the two. Sasuke pulled out a kunai and dug it into the paw, causing the demon to pull back to tend to the new wound.

I was never alone. He was always there.

Sasuke looked back to Naruto. He never once seemed to notice that he'd never released his hold on the smaller male. However he did notice the way blond had leaned into the embrace, and how he snuggled deeper into his arms. "You're a very strong person Naruto... I think one day you'll make a great Hokage..." Sasuke had whispered.

Maybe somewhere deep down he really does care?

Even while Sasuke had a weird way of expressing himself, maybe he really did care about Naruto? Even if he was the Kyuubi container... No... Sasuke hurt... He cared so much that it was hurting him inside. He was past the point of caring. This pain... It was love...

Authors Note- Okay yeah. This doesn't go with what actually happened in later chapters. I know. Don't even say it. Personally I just wanted to do something Naruto based with this poem I wrote. And this just seemed to fit the words. This might be concidered AU, but definatly OOC for both of them. If anything I kept Kyuubi pretty in character, and quite honestly, I'm proud of myself. At any rate, here's the poem so you can have a better appriciation for it. So you know it really is a poem and not just a bunch of words.
