I'm
sitting here in the boring room
It's just another rainy
Sunday afternoon
I'm wasting my time
I got nothing to do
I'm
hanging around
I'm waiting for you
But nothing ever happens and
I wonder
Darrel couldn't work in the rain. Now, he loved getting days off, as long as they were on the weekend, when the others weren't doing anything. But this was a Wednesday. The only thing he could look forward to was picking Ponyboy up after school. He had tried to watch t.v, but the only shows on this time of the day were soap operas and talk shows. He tried reading, but he had already read every book in the house before. Twice. He just laid on the couch until three.
I'm
driving around in my car
I'm driving too fast
I'm driving too
far
I'd like to change my point of view
I feel so lonely
I'm
waiting for you
But nothing ever happens and I wonder
Ponyboy leaned his head against the window on the drive home, looking upward at the sky, smiling slightly. The rain was letting up, "The sun'll be out soon..." He said, trying to start a conversation with his older brother, but Darrel only sighed, "Just because it stops raining, doesn't mean the clouds will go away."
Ponyboy smiled, " You never know..."
I
wonder how
I wonder why
Yesterday you told me 'bout the blue
blue sky
And all that I can see is just a yellow lemon-tree
I'm
turning my head up and down
I'm turning turning turning turning
turning around
And all that I can see is just another lemon-tree
Darrel's evening was dull, as well. Pony had to do his homework, while Soda went out with Steve. He did the dishes by himself, just for something to do. He tried to watch t.v again, but there was still nothing on. Sighing, he stood up and went to his bed room. He fell onto his bed and closed his eyes.
I'm
sitting here
I miss the power
I'd like to go out taking a
shower
But there's a heavy cloud inside my head
I feel so
tired
Put myself into bed
Well, nothing ever happens and I
wonder
Darrel was always the first up on weekdays. He couldn't figure it out. On the weekends, it was always Ponyboy up making breakfast. But this wasn't the weekend, which meant Darrel was up in the eerily quiet house.
Isolation
is not good for me
Isolation I don't want to sit on the lemon-tree
Darrel sighed, putting the carton of eggs on the counter. He had decided to get some fresh air before he started breakfast. He stepped out of the house, and off the step. He looked around the yard, across the street, then, up at the sky. He smiled. The sky was a beautiful blue.
I'm
steppin' around in the desert of joy
Baby anyhow I'll get another
toy
And everything will happen and you wonder
This is going to be a good day... He thought. He started to walk back to the step, when he felt something wet hit his face. Again, he looked up. Grey clouds were slowly filling the sky.
I
wonder how
I wonder why
Yesterday you told me 'bout the blue
blue sky
And all that I can see is just another lemon-tree
I'm
turning my head up and down
I'm turning turning turning turning
turning around
And all that I can see is just a yellow
lemon-tree
And I wonder, wonder
Back in the house, Darrel had made breakfast for him and his brothers. Just before they finished, the telephone rang. Soda jumped up and answered it.
"Hello?...Oh..uh huh...yeah, hold on..." He takes it away from his ear and turned to his older brother, " Darry, it's for you..."
I
wonder how
I wonder why
Yesterday you told me 'bout the blue
blue sky
And all that I can see, and all that I can see, and all
that I can see
Is just a yellow lemon-tree
