Happy Twenty-first Celebration

Identical twins Elizabeth and Jessica Wakefield were on their way to the Sweet Valley Bar. They had just turned 21 so they were now old enough to drink.

"Remember that we need to drink responsibly," Elizabeth said.

"Sure thing," Jessica said with a sigh.

"I mean it."

"Whatever."

Elizabeth had a feeling that Jessica wasn't taking her seriously. She decided to drop the subject for the time being because she didn't want to get into an argument.

As soon as they entered the parking lot, Elizabeth parked the car. Then she and Jessica got out and headed into the bar.

One hour later

Elizabeth and Jessica were sitting in a booth sharing a basket of sweet potato fries and drinking strawberry daiquiris. Elizabeth was still on her first strawberry daiquiri while Jessica was on her twelfth.

"Jess, that's the twelfth strawberry daiquiri you've had in the last hour," Elizabeth pointed out.

"Relax, Liz, it's our twenty-first birthday so live a little," Jessica laughed.

Just then, Jessica raced to an empty table nearby, got on the table, and started dancing. Elizabeth realized that her sister was drunk and raced over to her.

"Jess, I think we should leave."

"I'm having too much fun right now, Liz."

"I'm not kidding."

"You're so boring."

Suddenly, Elizabeth grabbed Jessica off the table and dragged her towards the exit. Jessica struggled the whole time but Elizabeth didn't relax her hold.

The twins made it outside a few minutes later. Suddenly, Jessica ended up tossing her cookies in a nearby bush.

"We'd better go home now," Elizabeth said.

"I don't feel so good," Jessica moaned and then tossed her cookies again in the same bush.

Just then, Jessica passed out and fell to the ground. Elizabeth carefully picked her up and carried her to the car.

The next morning

Jessica woke up in her room with a splitting headache. She noticed that Elizabeth was sleeping next to her.

She gently shook Elizabeth's shoulder. Her twin slowly woke up and turned to make eye contact.

"Feeling better?" Elizabeth asked.

"I have a splitting headache," Jessica groaned.

Elizabeth jumped out of bed and went into the bathroom. She came out with a cup of water and 2 aspirin and handed them to Jessica who took the aspirin and drank the water.

"You had a lot to drink last night," Elizabeth explained.

"I should've listened when you said to drink responsibly," Jessica said.

"That's right."

"Remind me never to drink a dozen strawberry daiquiris in an hour."

"Why don't we get some black coffee?"

"Sounds good."

Elizabeth and Jessica wrapped an arm around each other. Then they left the room and headed for the kitchen.

The twins were sitting at the kitchen table drinking black coffee. They were also eating scrambled eggs in a bowl.

"Did the aspirin help any?" Elizabeth asked.

"My headache's gone down a bit," Jessica replied.

"Glad to hear that."

"Did you even enjoy yourself last night?"

"I have to admit that I had a good time."

"Guess that means you don't need alcohol to have a good time."

"I see you learned something from last night."

"Looks like I'm finally growing up."

"Or at least starting to."

"I can live with that."

The twins finished their breakfast and cleaned up after themselves. Then they wrapped their arms around each other.

"I love you, Jess."

"I love you, too, Liz."

The twins released each other a few minutes later. Then they headed upstairs so they could get ready for the day.

The End
