Prologue
"I'm sorry…but I'm breaking up with you."
Suoh's shocked tiger gold eyes stared down at the sorrow lavender ones of Nagisa Azuya, his girlfriend of six years. One moment, the two of them were having a nightly picnic in the park underneath millions of stars and the next thing he knew, the love of his life drops a huge bombshell.
Was his ears deceiving him? No, he has been sharp enough to protect Nokoru from his kidnappers for nine years straight so there was no way he had heard wrong. But why? Has he messed up on one of their dates? Has he spend too much time with Nokoru and Akira? What exactly did he do to make Nagisa want to leave him?
When the shock finally died down, Suoh asked in a shaky voice, "W-Why Nagisa? Don't you love me?"
"I do!" the flutist replied as she turned her head away a little too dramatically, "But I have noticed that you have been hiding in an illusion."
'What?' the ninja thought. What is Nagisa trying to say? So many questions invaded his brain as he tried to make sense of the situation. Nagisa stood up and sobbed behind the sleeve of her blue kimono.
"I'm sorry," she said again, "But if breaking up with you is what is takes to open your eyes then…I have no choice…goodbye Suoh."
"Nagisa, wait!" Suoh called as he reached out to her but he couldn't reach her and his legs were paralysed with shock. The blue-haired boy just helplessly watch his wisteria fairy's lilac pigtails glide in the air as she walked away from him.
And just like that, his world came crashing down.
