"…so then he said, 'That song you sang kind of reminds me of myself' and I thanked him. Then he left without saying goodbye."

After she finished her tale, silence filled the room. Distantly, Junko realized that she must have been talking for a long time for the shadows cast on the windowsill had grown longer and thinner than the last time she checked. The last fingers of light were receding towards the ground quickly and if they remained here any longer, she was sure they would be talking in the darkness soon.

The lollipop she had obtained from Asuka-san during lunch had now been completely devoured and all that remained was a wet, saliva-drenched stick. Junko sighed and tossed the remainders into a nearby trashcan. She ran her fingers through her hair and tousled it, still unable to hold Momoe's gaze.

Finally, Momoe broke the tranquility with a question Junko had seen coming from a mile away. "…so. What's his name?"

Junko averted her best friend's piercing gaze and settled for staring at her less-than-impressively-manicured fingernails instead. "I dunno," she mumbled.

"You dunno," Momoe repeated cynically. An eyebrow flew up.

Some more incoherent mumbling. Junko took up the task of repairing her fingernails by chewing on them. This way her mouth was full and she had an excuse to avoid talking.

"YOU DON'T KNOW?" Momoe repeated, her voice growing dramatically louder.

Junko removed her hand from her mouth and scowled. Her eyes quickly darted to the entrance of the classroom to make sure there were no curious eavesdroppers passing by. She turned to face Momoe once more and leaned forward, her expression mutinous.

"He never told me his name!" she hissed lowly. "ALRIGHT, Momoe?"

The other girl blinked before frowning. "You're so dumb. You should have asked for his name…and his cellphone number!" The annoyance that radiated off Junko made her frown deepen. "Fine. What was he wearing?"

She paused. Junko liked her dry lips before saying the only piece of description of the mysterious boy that remained in her mind.

"A black trenchcoat."
