Screwloose bit her lip as the world around her crumbled.
"I know I knew this would happen…" She whispered as fire licked up around her, but they didn't because her mane didn't burn, and she wept. There was no fire, and she opened her eyes to see stuffed animals dancing around her singing as tabled curved like puddy and cotton candy tied around some stuffed animals. She saw vases fill from the top and lower stems be put into the fine glass as buds were discarded. Books tore themselves apart and hats wore themselves. She saw a pair of pants leap and dance as knifes flew with feathers. Lights dimmed and flared again in her vision, and spots of black and prickly white plagued her vision.
She started spinning and stopping, or maybe she was never moving at all. She felt hooves push her forward, but when she looked behind her, there was only a collection of lamps. She ran forward and looked back to see tape get stuck to itself and wriggle in pain or joy. Her head hurt and her hooves ached from running. Then, there was no ground but an ocean that was being sucked back and back as she spun in mid-air, and she felt her stomach lurch. Then, all at once, the ocean lunged forward toward her, and she held her breath as icy water cut across her face.
Then, it all stopped.
There was no movement, and everything went black. She looked around. Nothing. Darkness. She looked at her hooves, and they were slowly being engulfed in the black. She sighed. It didn't matter. This was the most peace she had in a long time. Then, a voice echoed in her head.
"Screwloose…? Is that you…? I'm so sorry…"
She knew that voice. It was the voice of the one she loved, but her being with him had hurt her. Hurt her very badly. "Discord… Please. It's so dark, and ever sense you left, I've been becoming-" the words stuck in her throat, but that didn't stop them from flowing into her mind. "-a madmare…" She felt claws brush up against her, but she couldn't see them. "Let's go together, what do you say?" She felt a supporting arm around her, and the black traveled up her forelegs. "Of course." She was being pulled. Not like in her madness, where she felt nauseous and confused, but there was one big steady pull. She closed her eyes as the tension pulled harder, then it was relaxed.
She opened her eyes, to see herself.
"A shell of myself." The being that was before her was not her. Her eyes were wide open with bags and blown pupils, while Screwloose looked like an ordinary pony. "Hello." She turned to see her old beloved, and tears of joy flowed from her eyes.
"Together," Discord said, holding out a paw. She took it tenderly, and they went to where he was sealed, to spend an eternity together.
Forever.
