I'll become evil for you
When we were children,
you used to stare up at the stars in awe.
The world was so big and mysterious and
you couldn't wait to begin
your own grand adventure.
We've grown up since then,
No longer children but
not quite adults.
The world is so big and mysterious and
terrifyingly real.
Some days I catch you counting stars
with a twinkle in your eye
and I think it's
childlike in a sense.
And I wish,
oh how I wish. I wish
that things could stay this way but
Most days I catch you gazing up at the vast
darkness,
Stranded before infinity.
An overwhelming sadness in your eyes.
I don't know how to help you;
I wish that I could. We both know that
the World won't.
The World doesn't help anyone but it
sets the rules.
One day you cling to me and I don't know
why and I don't know
what to do but I do know
that I've found
a warmth I didn't know I was seeking.
I still don't know
where I belong or
who I am or
when everything will be ok and
I'll see you smile again. But until then
I'll pick up my sword and
stay by your side and if
the World turns against you,
I'll become evil for you.
