Bruce Wayne was reading the ads in a newspaper. Alfred Pennyworth walked up to him and said, "Commissioner Gordon is calling sir."

Bruce replied, "Okay." He picked up the phone and asked, "What's going on?"

Commissioner Gordon said, "The Bookworm has broken out of prison again."

Bruce replied, "Don't worry. I intend on finding him."

Commissioner Gordon said, "I'm afraid that I have no idea where he is now."

Chief O'Hara replied, "I have a feeling that he's going to go to a worm farm."

Bruce ignored Chief O'Hara goofy answer and said, "With all due respect to someone of your high ranking I highly doubt that he's after worms."

Chief O'Hara replied, "Well I'm going to keep my worms in a safe place."

Meanwhile the Bookworm went into Barbra Gordon's library. Barbra had never battled the Bookworm before so she didn't know that he was a villain. She said, "Greetings sir. What kind of book are you interested in?"

The Bookworm responded, "I'm interested in every type of book."

Barbra said, "Well it's nice to meet someone that's so interested in books."

The Bookworm was obsessed with books being treated properly so he stared at one of the bookcases to make sure that the books were put where they were supposed to be. He said, "All of these are organized in alphabetical order." He grabbed one of the books and said, "This book was put in the wrong place."

Barbra replied, "I'm sorry about that sir. Everybody makes a few mistakes."

The Bookworm shouted, "I don't tolerate mistakes!"

Barbra said, "You shouldn't freak out."

The Bookworm replied, "All of these books deserve a better library. I'm going to take all of them and put them in a library made by me."

Barbra said, "You can't take the books. You're only allowed to rent the books, not keep them. Plus you can't take all of them at the same time."

The Bookworm replied, "I'm going to stop you from ruining my book plans." He threw sprayed knockout gas at Barbra. Barbra passed out.

The Bookworm grabbed Barbra and drove near a train. He tied Barbra to the train tracks and drove back to the library.

A few minutes later Barbra woke up and said, "It seems like the Bookworm tied me to some train tracks. Thankfully he didn't know that I'm Batgirl. It's easy for me to escape." Barbra broke the ropes and ran away from the train area.

Barbra got on her Batgirl costume and went back to the library. She looked around and noticed that all of the books in the library were gone. She said, "The Bookworm's faster than most worms."

Batgirl ran out of the library and looked around for Batman. After several minutes of searching the city she found Batman. She said, "Greetings Batman. I've got a mission to take care of. I figured that you would want to join me."

Batman replied, "I always feel like helping fellow crime fighters. However I do need to find the Bookworm."

Batgirl said, "It seems like our missions are the same."

Batman replied, "I haven't found that many useful clues about where he could be."

Batgirl said, "He robbed Barbra Gordon's library. He tried to have a train run over her so I saved her."

Batman replied, "That's very heroic of you. You've saved Barbra so many times that you practically seem like her knight."

Batgirl said, "I save her about as often as you save Bruce Wayne."

Batman and Batgirl were both unaware of each other's secret identities even though it was pretty clear who they were. Batman tried to protect his secret identity by saying, "Bruce Wayne's a good friend of mine. He and I have often helped each other out on various adventures. That's how I've gotten so many chances to save him."

Batgirl replied, "I love books. I often rent books from Barbra Gordon's library."

Batman said, "Barbra Gordon has Gotham's best library."

Batgirl replied, "Thank you Batman."

Batman said, "With all due respect the compliment was for Barbra."

Batgirl replied, "I'm sorry. It seems like I have a habit of appreciating compliments that aren't about me. The Bookworm stole all of the books from her eloquent library."

Batman said, "That's quite a evil thing to do. The safety of the library's books is really important. We need to find his hideout."

Batgirl asked, "How could we do that?"

Batman said, "Thankfully I have a Bat-Hideout Detector on my Batmobile. Lets go." Batman turned on the Bat-Hideout Detector. He and Batgirl went into the Batmobile and started going to the Bookworm's hideout.

Several minutes later the Bookworm was prancing around the library he made in his hideout. He had every single book organized in alphabetical order. He proudly said, "I'm the best organizer ever."

Batman and Batgirl burst into the hideout. Batman said, "You need to return the books and surrender. Your prison sentence is long overdue."

The Bookworm responded, "I'm afraid that I have to disagree with you about that Batman. You've defeated every single criminal that you've ever fought. Your first failure is long overdue. I'm going to be the one that helps you get your first failure."

Batman said, "I'm usually flattered to be offered help, but your kind of help is more harsh than nice."

Batgirl said, "The books you stole are super important to the library. Barbra Gordon could go often of business if you keep stealing books."

The Bookworm smiled and responded, "She won't go out of business, because I had a train get rid of her."

Batgirl replied, "You're wrong about that you sneaky crook. I saved her."

The Bookworm shouted, "You're foiling my plans!"

Batman said, "I admit that I'm not very fond of foiling. I think it's rather rude to foil someone's goal in life. However when the person's goal involves breaking the law my thoughts on foiling become more positive."

The Bookworm replied, "I'm going to use the books to defeat you." He started throwing books at Batman and Batgirl.

Batgirl asked, "Why would you put your precious books in danger?"

The Bookworm said, "It's worth it to defeat you. After I use these books to get rid of you I'll steal the world's most valuable. I'll become the best librarian of all time." He threw dozens of books at Batman and Batgirl.

Batman said, "You're becoming a mad criminal."

The Bookworm replied, "I'm the opposite of mad. I'm the most mature person that you've ever fought. I have the respectable goal of making sure of every book gets treated with the honor that it deserves."

Batgirl said, "Books deserve to be treated fairly, but you're too loopy to help the books."

Batman grabbed the Bookworm and punched him. He said, "I'm going to have your library card taken away for these crimes."

The Bookworm replied, "You can go ahead with that since I have hundreds of them."

Batman asked, "How do you get so many?"

The Bookworm said, "I travel around the world's various libraries to get the cards."

Batgirl replied, "Throwing books doesn't hurt that much to crime fighters."

The Bookworm smiled and said, "I'll use something more extreme to defeat you." He grabbed a bookcase and threw it. The bookcase crashed to the ground. Books landed around the floor.

Batman said, "Your attempt to defeat Batgirl and I crashed rather hard."

Batgirl replied, "Be careful. You could slip on the books."

The Bookworm said, "Since you bragged about how painless books are I don't think it'll be a problem." The Bookworm slipped on a bunch of books and fell out the window. He crash landed on a knockout bomb. He passed out.

Batman and Batgirl ran outside. Batman put handcuffs on the Bookworm and said, "Thank you for your help Batgirl. You're a really good superhero."

Batgirl replied, "I feel the same way about you Batman. I need to go show Barbra Gordon where all the books from her library got taken to so she can return them."

Batman said, "Barbra's a great librarian. I've never heard of one that's more dedicated."

Batgirl replied, "Even though that compliment wasn't for me I feel flattered."

Batman took the Bookworm to the police station and said, "You're going to be banned from the prison's library for a long time."

The Bookworm replied, "I'm going to turn Gotham into my library after I escape from prison. I'll have my revenge!"
