My biggest mistake was applying to be an assistant to Billionaire Marcus Vansten. As a kid I worked on one of his many chimneys situated around town. Once I turned 16 I started work at Ralph's and after I flunked out of college I joined the Night Vale Temporary Assignment because that's all I has left. My first job placed me at a small Flower Shop. It turned out to be home to a cult, I spent the weirdest week there. The next place I was placed at was Marcus Vansten's estate, as his assistant, he's a very interesting boss, to put it lightly.

One Year Earlier

"Jake Garcia, male, 25, Caucasian, average height, three sisters and no brothers, and no criminal record. Also you have nice handwriting too."

"Thank you sir," I said to Marcus Vansten who was sitting across from me at his desk.

"Have you ever worked for me before?"

"I did work at your chimney sweeping service as a child."

"Oh yes, what did you think of my magnificent idea," Marcus said as he leaned back in his seat with a smug smile on his face.

"It was a greatly appreciated start to my résumé."

"And now you are back here looking for a job."

"Yes, sir, I was specifically applying to be an assistant."

"The job is yours."

"Really!?"

"Yes, now lets get to the most important question… Do you happen to be in a relationship with anyone right now."

The question took me by surprise. Did he think that assistant meant a sex partner? Or was he just trying to make conversation.

"Uhm not right now, sir"

"Stop calling me sir, it's really pretentious, you can call me Mark instead."

"Okay, Sir, I mean Mark, when do I start work?"

"Tomorrow, I need you to arrive at 9 am exactly."

"Okay I will be on time."

He reached his hand across the table and shook my hand. He probably didn't think I noticed how he looked into my eyes. It was a bit… sexy to say the least. I turned around to leave and as I reached the door I looked back

"Good bye, Mark," I said, but he was already distracted by his laptop. It was going to be an interesting week indeed.
