Aphrodite & Apollo

Soon after Aphrodite was married to Hephaestus, she realized, that though he was a great husband, he was not for her. She wished only for another just as equally as beautiful as her. She wished for Zeus's other child, Apollo. Only he was almost as beautiful as her. But she had chosen Hephaestus to be married to. And Apollo himself had many other infidelities. She believed that she had chosen wrongly when she had the choice.
And one day, she approached Apollo's home. It was quite and peaceful, faithful servants littered everywhere. She was easily led to him. They met not soon after.

"Hello," Aphrodite said politely.

She was quickly welcomed into the castle. She had a quite dinner with the Sun God and then proclaimed her findings. He was glad that she had found her first choice incorrect.
They spent secret time together, and no one upon Olympus realized anything wrong or unusual among them.

But Eros did.

He knew everything there was to know about love. And he knew there was something missing within what his mother supposed was a blossoming love. And he constantly warned his mother about his arising suspicions.

"Mother, I know there is something wrong among this love which you supposedly have upon Apollo."

"Hush my child, you know nothing of this," she bellowed at him.

"That is where you are wring mother. You answer to those who pray to you, and I give love to those who ask for it. But I also see when that love is not returned." He tried to tell his reluctant mother.

"Eros, please. You think you know about this. Leave" She commanded.

Eros promptly left his mother in peace. At least until he felt that he should take upon his shoulders this.
He planned and cunningly set up a devise to show his mother the true face of Apollo. He quickly called to the help of Hermes. He told the Messenger God to relay his message to his mother to meet Apollo at the young entrance of a small forest where beautiful water nymphs and forest nymphs. Of course Aphrodite did not know what the woods contained.
Then Eros him self went to Apollo and told him of the beautiful nymphs that had fallen for him. Apollo gladly took his leave and went quickly to find the maidens. They were easily spotted and he enchanted them with his beauty.

Aphrodite had been peacefully walking when she heard a small giggling. She followed it and came upon three nymphs fawning over Apollo. He was professing his love for them over and over again.
Her rage grew and grew. Her son's words finally came back to her. She turned the three nymphs into tiny rats. They quickly skittered off leaving Apollo alone. She quickly left, not having the heart to do much to him, at the moment at least. But not later, when he met Daphne.
She went home and saw her beloved son waiting for her there. She hugged him dearly.

"I'm sorry mother, I had to do it," he whispered to her.

"Thank you my son," Aphrodite murmured once she realized it was him who did it. And she was very grateful; he was right.

"You must learn to listen to me Mother, I know what I speak of." Eros said.

"I will try my son, I will try."

Together the two went home. Eros to spread love, and Aphrodite back to her husband, knowing that it really was the inside that counts.
