Light was panicking. He thought his plan had been perfect. He would give up ownership of the notebook so that he could look innocent while he and L tracked down Higuchi. Then, when Higuchi died, he would get his memories and ownership of the note book back and either Misa would kill L or Rem would. Sadly, Light had not considered the possibility that he might fall in love with L when he lost his memories and then get pregnant with his child.
Light did not even think he could get pregnant. After all, he was a guy. Light had also thought that it was ok not to use a condom because L was also a guy. Apparently though, he was wrong because it had been 32 weeks and Light seemed to have put on a lot of weight around a certain area. That and every pregnancy test he had tried when he first started to notice his odd weight change came out positive.
Light was also worried about being a parent. An abortion was out of the question. Light didn't even know where he could even find one for a guy. Light figured he would have to get Misa to forfeit ownership and move out with her. How could he possibly come up with an explanation for why he was pregnant that didn't lead her to wonder who the other father was?
Light was also worrying about raising the child. Until the world started to accept Kira, how would the child react if they ever found out that Light was Kira and had killed L, their other dad? Light could never live with himself if his child found out. Light was already starting to feel guilty about killing L. If L was dead, then who would help him raise the kid? Light was going to have to be a single father and raise the kid all by himself.
All of this was too much for Light to take. He knew that he couldn't live with himself now that he had killed L. Light figured that the best option would be to give up ownership of the notebook so that he would forget that he was ever Kira, forget that he had killed L, start a new Life somewhere, and raise his kid.
He called Misa's number and told her to burn her notebook. After Light finally persuaded her to burn it, he said goodbye and hung up. Light got out the tiny piece of paper out of his watch and the piece of paper he was wearing under a corset, and lit them on fire. As they burned, Light caught a glimpse of a name written on the one he had in a corset. Lawliet. It was the piece of paper with L's real name on it. The pieces of paper finished burning and Light instantly forgot everything about the notebook. "well," he said to himself "I guess I should start thinking of names for the baby. Hrmmmmm…..I don't know where I've heard the name before, by Lawliet would be good."
