The warm breeze echoed, hissed and cracked against her head. The humid heat irritated the back of her already sweaty neck. Ziva's curly hair stuck to her neck and shoulders, and spilt messily out her brown, stretched out hair tie. Her favourite pink and black running shoes looked neon under the dimming streetlights, and she was only followed by her faded silhouette.
Starting out in a slow jog she tore out of the house, slowly gaining speed, yearning for the icy cold blast of frigid air on her body. Tasting the dissatisfaction, she sprinted around the block, desperate for the cold that wouldn't come, and rounded her apartment complex, taking the steps by threes and throwing her unlocked front door open, threatening to crush the cheep gold colored doorknob.
She slowly closed the front door to avoid attention and took her sweet time getting to the bathroom. Ziva stood in the middle of the small, boring colored room and stripped down, leaving a small pile of her clothes, shoes and hair tie on the floor. She stepped into the warm shower, tipping the faucet closer and closer to the cold side. With one final impatient jerk, the mildly warm water sharply turned cold.
A chill ran down her arched spine as she tipped her head back into the cold current and let it wash over her.
She jerked the faucet off and wrapped a green towel around her slender figure. Then she ran a brush through her tangled, sopping wet hair.
She took two steps to her room and rummaged through three different drawers settling on an old pair of volleyball shorts and a plain black, figured v-neck.
She floated to her living room bending down to pick up the remote in the hallway, and then collapsed in the chair, shutting her eyes and leaning her head against the fluffy back of the chair. Across from her was a dimmed shadow figure that she didn't particularly pay attention to until it came closer.
He picked her up, and set her down gracefully where he was sitting. Her head was comfortably laid in his lap. "I'll never let you go. You know that." She said out loud. She propped herself up against the arm rest next to him to turn on the lamp and kiss him on the cheek. A look of remorse painted itself across his face. "It is the past Tony." She whispered in his ear.
"Don't leave me alone Zi," he begged as she laid back down. His voice cracked a little as she let her eyes droop. He draped his arm loosly around her as she fell asleep.
He watched her sleeping figure softly move up and down as he started to sing in a deep, soothing voice.
"Just close your eyes, the sun is going down. You'll be alright; no one can hurt you now. Come morning light, you and I'll be safe and sound."
