I'm walking to my classroom when I run into Dr. Stein. He stops and I smile at him. He is rather handsome and quite smart.
"Hello Jilly."
"Hey Stein," I say, twirling a lock of my short, dark brown hair.
He coughs and starts to look uncomfortable.
"Is something wrong?" I ask not sure what his deal is.
Stein glances at the walls and the ceiling before saying, "This is hard for me to say but would you like to go to dinner with me tonight?"
I blink rapidly, "You mean like a date?"
He nods slowly and I see him glance at me gauging my reaction. I feel myself blushing. I hope Stein doesn't notice. It's rather embarrassing for a twenty-six year old woman to be blushing just because a cute guy asked her out. After all I'm not in high school any more.
I nod rapidly and he smiles so adorable. I feel my heart melt.
"I'll see you tonight then Jilly," Stein says and walks in the direction of his class room.
I feel myself floating. Soul Eater Evans and Maka Albarn walk past me chatting casually. I see Soul stop and glance at me.
"Hey professor Hart what's up?"
I bring myself back to earth and say somewhat steadily, "Oh I'm just relaxing before class starts."
Soul nods and then he goes back to talking to Maka. The warning bell rings three minutes later. I head towards my class room, trying not to let my emotions show through.
"Okay now class, can you tell me the name of a legendary weapon?"
A hand rises up in the air and I look at Tara. She is a cute girl with long pink hair and sapphire eyes.
"Yes Tara?"
"Excalibur," she says simply.
Everyone around her looks impressed when I tell her she's right. "Now class, just because Excalibur is legendary doesn't mean everyone can wield it. One's soul must be in sync with his or her weapon. Otherwise the partnership won't work."
My class nods and when the bell rings I dismiss them. I straighten up my papers and grab my lunch. I'm heading towards the lunch room with the other teachers and students when Sid approaches me.
"Hey Sid," I say.
"Jilly, I hear you've got a date with Dr. Stein."
I nearly trip I'm so surprised. "How'd you know that?"
"News travels fast here."
I roll my eyes, "So I've heard."
I slip into the cafeteria and find a seat near the window. Sid joins me but I'm not in the mood to be asked one hundred questions so I cut to the chase.
"Sid you're not going to ask me a million questions are you? Because if you are then I'm not going to answer any of them."
Sid looks taken aback but quickly rebounds, "No of course not. I was just wanting to confirm the news of you two going out tonight."
"Alright, but no questions."
Sid nods and we eat our lunch. I bite into my ham sandwich and take a sip of my lemonade. Lunch ends quickly and it's back to class for all of us.
I've always found teaching to be quite fun. Some people may call us crazy, putting up with brats all day long but I love my brats. They can be bratty and even obnoxious but they're mine and I love my students. I'm sure the other teachers on duty feel the same way as I do. It's been my calling ever since I was a young girl. At one point I was paired up with a meister but I didn't enjoy gathering souls much because my calling was elsewhere. See I'm a weapon. The name implies that I can transform into numerous weapons. I've got massive power and whoever wields me will realize that as soon as they touch me. Enemies fear me, women envy me. I don't really mind though, that's just how the world works.
