Small.
It had been the worst pain Lily had ever felt in her entire life.
She was sure that James was feeling the pain to, the grip she had on his hand, but she didn't really care about that now.
She was only caring about the fact that she was pushing out a small human being from her body.
But it would be worth it. She'd have a child. A beautiful child. It would probably be a boy. She had a feeling that it would be.
Her mother stood on one side, James on the other. She was gripping onto their hands like it was her last lifeline.
Her mother had told her that it would hurt, but that it was worth it.
When the pressure left her body and a wave of cries filled the air, Lily knew that it was over. Finnally.
James shuffled over, never letting go of her hand, as her mum kissed her sweaty forehead.
"Congratulations, Mr & Mrs. Potter." The Medi-Witch said. "It's a healthy baby boy."
Lily felt a stinging in her eyes, as she leaned back in relief.
She had been right. It was a boy.
She felt excitement bubble in her stomach. (Just thinking about the mischief that the boy would get in... Hogwarts better watch out.)
She watched, rather out-of-it, as James cut the umbilical cord. He was trying not to cry, but he wasn't fooling anyone, especially when the first tear fell down his face slowly as they cleaned her baby off and wrapped it in a blue blanket.
Her son was being passed to her now. Her crying son. (She wanted the crying to stop... What if her son was in pain?)
The only thing she could see was her baby.
He was beautiful. The chubby ness that every baby seemed to have. Rosy cheeks. A red face from the crying. Closed eyes. And black hair.
James' black hair.
She had to admit that she was glad that he didn't have her red locks.
Lily noticed that the crying had stopped the moment that she had held her baby.
She reached a finger out carefully, and nearly started sobbing when the babe wrapped his small, small hand around her index finger.
Love filled her. Love for the babe in her arms. Love for James. Love for her mother and father. Hell, love for even Sirius, whom was going to be the babe's godfather.
He seemed to smile as he curled into her arms.
She faintly heard mother sniffle and tell everyone that the baby was born. She barely felt James kiss her forehead. Everything was her son. Her beautiful baby boy.
'It's amazing, isn't it?' Lily asked herself later that night. It was probably August the 1st now, seeing as she had given birth around 9:00. She knew that she was supposed to be sleeping... But she didn't want to. She wanted to spend every moment with the boy whom she and James had decided to name Harry James.
It was a perfect name.
She touched the small, soft hand softly, flinching slightly when her son's eyes started squinting, getting ready for the cries and repremands.
But they never came.
Instead, Harry started to open his eyes slowly, revealing bright emerald eyes.
Her eyes.
But they seemed to fit him more. They were probably the most beautiful things that she had ever seen... James had always said that her eyes were beautiful. Maybe this was what he meant.
Instead of crying her baby sent her a small smile, before falling back asleep.
She felt tears, but she didn't bother to wipe them as resolve burned in her stomach.
She didn't care if it was a dangerous time currently.
Her baby.
She would protect him. No matter what.
Voldemort, or whatever challenge in the future, be damned.
A/N: Thank you for reading.
