Title: I'll be home for Christmas

Summary: …if only in my dreams. Trapped in a parallel universe, Rose Tyler watches the stars on a day so very special to her, and remembers the love she left behind. Doctor/Rose

Disclaimer: I do not own Doctor Who, or the song I'll be home for Christmas.

A/N: Have a happy holidays! May all your days be merry and bright. Review if you can, please. It would mean a lot to me! Special thanks to my father for reading this over. Reposted to fix some minor errors, sorry. I will post the follow up once I get a review or multiple reviews.

The lights of the grand house were sparkling and dancing. Laughter and good cheer filled the air, touching each and every soul.

The Tyler family party was always a grand one, with extravagant lights and beautiful decorations. At least two hundred people were attending, all smiling with mirth. It was Christmas Eve, and never had there been more celebration.

But one member of the Tyler clan was missing. Jackie and Pete swayed to the music, acting like the perfect hosts. Little Tony was babbling on about Santa to his nannies, chattering away. Rose Tyler, however, was standing outside, gazing up at the stars in the sky.

"Today was supposed to be special," she whispered, watching the blinking stars, "Today was supposed to be a day when I was with you."

The stars had no response, but their presence was reassuring.

"We were supposed to put up a tree and laugh. There was supposed to be some grand disaster that we would solve. Then there was to be a celebration, the two of us, an' Mickey, an' Mum. Remember last Christmas? We wore those daft little hats. Mine was pink. You told me I looked beautiful. I didn't," the heiress laughed, her blond hair floating in the gentle breeze, "but you told me anyways. Then it snowed. Is it snowing where you are, Doctor?"

Only the sound of distant conversation replied to her thoughts.

"It's my first Christmas here without you. 'S odd, I thought I'd be a right wreck. But…" Rose touched a small picture of them, and smiled, "But I know you're out there. Maybe you've got someone else now, but that's good, yeah? You need someone. Maybe it's not me. But maybe, just maybe it is."

The pine trees on the massive property whistled in response, the chilly air cutting through them. She pulled her coat closer to herself, crossing her arms.

"See, that's the beauty of us. Somewhere out there, we're still… us. Still together, still laughin' and runnin'. And I know I'm not here right now, but I will be, I promise. I'll keep looking. I won't stop, not now, not ever," the smile fell from her lips, but there was no anger in her voice, "Even if you've given up, I won't."

The music had changed now. She knew she was expected to dance, but she didn't want to. Somewhere, far away, a distant wolf howled.

"I remember this song," Rose whispered, letting the smooth voice of Frank Sinatra (spelled Franc Synatra in this world) fill her ears, "I said it was sad. You said it was hopeful. Told me that no matter where you were, you'd always be with me. Like this song I suppose."

Softly, she began to sing along.

"Christmas Eve will find me," she sang, letting a tear drift down, "Where the love light gleams."

She really did love him. No world could change that.

"I'll be home for Christmas," she sang, stronger now.

"If only in, my, dreams."

A/N: Merry Christmas everyone. I hope you enjoyed my gift to you. By the way, the Franc Synatra thing was my father's idea. There will be a follow up, by the way, so stay tuned.

Review if you can! Thanks!
