"You're still awake?"

Droopy blue eyes peered back into the darkness and focused in on the approaching figure. The moonlight shone through the glass door, illuminating the features of the man staring back.

Marth nodded slowly before returning his attention back to the midnight sky. No stars dazzled the vast darkness. The lone moon took the center stage this night and bathed the world in a light of untouchable gentleness. The prince pressed a hand against the cool glass and let out a sigh. It fogged his view of the gorgeous satellite.

"I wonder why it is a thing. To count sheep. " He removed his hand from the door and touched his lips with cold fingers. A sad chuckle escaped him as he spoke, "I've counted them many times. It does not work. I lose count because they are all same."

"Where do they go after they've jumped the fence?"

Marth hadn't noticed that Ike was standing next to him.

"They blindly follow the first sheep. They never question it." The fog had cleared from the glass but Marth's eyes weren't fixated on the moon. Only the emptiness around it. "Wherever the leader went is where the others will gather. What's the point of dreaming about something so scripted and plain?"

"So why not dream of something more ?" Captivating azure met confused but enraptured blue. "Something ever-changing, free-willed, and exciting." Their gaze held as Ike let these words of new hope spill from his soul.

Marth never knew the mercenary could be so deep. His lips parted and his eyes still held their lock with Ike's. Those words stirred in his mind.

Something more. Dreaming of a new beginning. Starting something new, something different.

He felt a hand pat the top of his head and fingers run through his blue tresses. Those words stirred in his heart.

The prince closed his lips and let a smile grace him.

"I think I know what I want to dream about. "
