So, I got this idea forever ago… like November. Yeah, I'm kind of pathetic. Anyway, here it is.

When she betrayed Azula, it didn't make her feel like a traitor. It made her feel human, good, like she was doing something that would help someone else.
Azula was her best friend, and she'd betrayed her.
What kind of best friend was she?
She wasn't a traitor. She was sure of that.
Well, maybe she actually was a traitor, seeing as she'd double crossed Azula to help Mai, and then turned around and betrayed her as well.
Although it was completely different.
Some how, betraying Mai hurt more.
Maybe it was because when Azula had been the one that she'd betrayed, she knew in that moment, that Azula never was truly her friend, just someone who wanted to use her talents for their benefit. Mai was different. Mai was actually her friend, the bestest friend that she could ever ask for.
She still felt horrible.
Maybe because with Azula, the only thing that she had lost was her sanity, and Azula had been headed down that path for a long time, after she started there was no stopping her. Nothing Ty Lee could do.
But with Mai, she took away the only thing that had ever made her best friend happy.
It didn't help that even before she had stolen Mai's happiness and taken it for her own, she had already been happy. Mai was never happy.
Especially not now.
To be honest, she'd never even seen Mai smile when she wasn't with Zuko. Not once.
Now she'd gone and taken that all away.
At first, she tried to blame it on Zuko, saying that he was just a stupid boy who cheated, she would tell Mai that it was Zuko who came over to her house, and that it was Zuko who kissed her first, and that it was Zuko who…
It didn't matter.
It was all a lie. It was all her. All Ty Lee.
Ty Lee. World's worst best friend.
As much as it hurt her to see Mai even more emotionless, and dare she say it, more sad then before, there was a part of her, a fairly small part, that couldn't help but be happy that she was the one who ended up with the boy.
Yes, she was definitely the world's worst best friend.
