Hidan seems to be my favorite character…

Disclaimer: … You know what? I own Naruto. Muwhaha.

Hidan didn't understand why he was in trouble. His mother cursed constantly. He pouted, looking out the bedroom window.

He told her there was no reason to punish him for something like this. She shoved the bar of soup into his mouth.

"I can assure you, there is a reason. Not because I believe cursing is bad, but…. Never mind. Maybe you'll understand when you're older," she answered while struggling to keep her son's head under the running water and the soap in his mouth. For only eight, he was already very strong.

"Get off of ME!"

This happened over an hour ago. Hidan's mother told him she'd come in five minutes to let him out of his room, but he was beginning to feel like she'd forgotten about him. This has happened before.

Hidan gave a loud, echoing groan. He hopped off his unusually high bed and walked over to the window across the room. He starred at it until an idea came to mind.

Well, an idea didn't come. So he shattered the window and jumped out.

Unfortunately, outside the window fixing the garden stood his mother. A cigarette hanging out of the side of her mouth fell to the ground, landing on a daisy. Her expression was one more of annoyance than surprise.

"You're cleaning that up. Right now."

Hidan screamed, "But it's your fault! You left me in there!"

"Too bad. You don't go busting out windows just for a reason like that."

She put out the cigarette with a barefoot and walked back into the house through the side door. Hidan grumbled something under his breath and began picking up pieces of glass on the ground.

Hidan ran away for the sixth time that month. Usually, it was only twice a month. Hmph. But what really pissed him off was the fact that his mom just didn't care anymore, as he always came back before 9:30. She seriously told him that.

Yeah, he thought, I'm so not coming back this time. Yet, that small voice told him he would. Just before 9:30. He scowled to himself, shuffling his feet forward.

Yugakure wasn't a large village, nor did it have any protective walls. No, he didn't like it here. If he were to run away for real, he knew he'd get out of the village completely. The fact he was only lingering on the inside of the borders instead of running out encouraged that voice. Maybe he shouldn't even consider it running away.

Hidan dropped to the ground, sitting against some restaurant. His mother was a strict freak, and he suspected she was a sadist, the way she punished him. She had some creative ideas, after all. Once she forced him to wash out his mouth himself, then stood there giggling to herself. Another time, she made him watch paint dry. For three goddamn hours.

"Cruel bitch is what she is…." Hidan murmured, his eyelids drooping slightly. With his head leaned against his shoulder, Hidan fell asleep.

Hidan awoke with a scream. He looked up furiously at the person who had kicked him so hard. He noticeably relaxed when he saw who it was. She smiled down softly at him and landed another sharp kick to his side. Hidan, with a wince, stood.

His mother got down on her knees, her back to him. "Climb up. I can tell you're tired."

Hidan gratefully accepted the piggy-back ride. She carried him down the dark path back to home, muttering as she went. Hidan did his best to ignore her.

"I was worried about you. Do you know what time it is? It's 9:36. You're six minutes late."

"You could've been kidnapped, ya' know. Idiot."

"I'm binding your hands behind your back for at least an hour tomorrow for punish. You will still be doing the dishes like that, understand?"

Hidan, eyes still, closed gave his mother's shoulders a painful squeeze before falling back asleep.

Anywho, first fanfiction story. It was a short, 4 page one-shot. And I don't like it. Review, please? I need criticism !
