He felt so weak, leaning against the cold bars of Kyuubi's prison. The water was strangely warm, comforting him as he sat on the stone floor. There was no pain, only a soft, quiet feeling. Tears wanted to form in his eyes, but it was as if he was not capable. His heart clenched in sorrow at the thought that this was the end. He closed his eyes in despair, his breath becoming shorter as he felt his life slipping away. His promises and dreams would never be fulfilled now and that hurt more than anything. Kyuubi was being strangely quiet, but Naruto couldn't blame him. This was the end for the fox as well.

The two sat and waited, comforted by each other's silence.

Kakashi knew he was too late when he felt Naruto's chakra slip from his mind, leaving only a blaring emptiness. When he reached the place where the battle between his two male students had occurred, he could only sigh in sadness.

They were both gone. The fight had taken everything they both had.

As he moved closer to their bodies, he changed his mind. The fight might have taken from them, but it gave so much more. Kakashi had never seen such peaceful expressions on either of their faces, even in sleep.

It was cold and the wind was harsh. Anyone else may think it was a perfect day for a funeral, with the sky crying tears from heaven for the loss of life, but Sakura couldn't help but disagree.

She looked up to the sky, the rain already soaked in her hair and clothes since she hadn't bothered to bring an umbrella.

"It shouldn't be raining."

Kakashi looked over to his only remaining student. She looked strong, her face determined. He gave a slight smile, knowing that she would be just fine with the memory of her teammates to strengthen her. She would make them proud, he knew.

"It should be warm and sunny." She continued; her voice quiet and soft. "Like him."

Following his student, Kakashi looked up to the sky as well, a feeling of contentment coming over him.

"They both are in a better place."

The two living members of team seven watched as the sun began to peak through the heavy clouds with smiles on their faces.

"Goodbye,"

--

He breathed a sigh, looking down at the people they had left behind, gathered for their funeral. He didn't want to leave them behind.

"Dobe,"

Naruto turned to look at the raven haired boy standing beside him. The other boy was looking right at him, his hand outstretched towards Naruto.

"Let's go,"

Naruto smiled, his eyes shining as he took the paler boy's hand.

"Okay."

With that, the Konoha's sunshine went, with a smile on his face.

The End
