Just a little drabble for Usopp. No pairings, and I decided I was going to try writing something for him. I only need to do one for everyone else now. I might do one for every character of the crew, and any evil characters I know a lot about. MAYBE! Not sure yet. I have done one for Kuro... cos I love Kurooooo -hugs and then gets slashed- owie... guess he doesn't love me...

Liar

He's been doing it for so long now.
Lying.
Telling stories.
Making up things.
Now, he doesn't know how to stop. How to quit. It's a part of him. He taught three little boys how to do it. His little pirate crew at Syrup. He misses them sometimes, but then, when he begins to show some sort of emotion other than fear, his face slips on.
A mask.
It hides him from the world. Hides him from his friends and protects him from getting hurt again. He was hurt when his father left, although he can hardly remember. And he was hurt when his mother died. Although he knows it's not his or her fault. He has been through so much hurt, that he covers it up. Hides it away. Tells stories to try and ease the pain in his heart.
So maybe his lies aren't lies after all. Maybe they're simply stories. Stories to hide, or vent his pain. And not only his pain, he tells them to ease others' pain. Because that is the only way he can see, that he can help someone. That he can make them feel better.
A slingshot is useless next to a sword, and he sometimes wonders why he was allowed to join this crew. Why he was allowed to be with such great pirates as his captain, the aspiring swordsman, a navigator who will never get lost, a doctor with more courage than he will ever have, a chef with a kick that could break stone and an archaeologist who is polite, kind and dangerous all at the same time. And what is he?
A dreamer.
A liar.
And he often fails to mention that he is a marksman. The captain can punch, but he sometimes has a poor sense of aim. The swordsman gets lost every time he moves. The chef has a serious attitude complex. The doctor often doesn't realize that he is in fact, the doctor that they need. The navigator has a love of money that overshadows everything. And the archaeologist who sometimes spies on you when you aren't looking.
Everyone has their little faults, and he sees only them in himself. If only he could realize, that he's more than that. He doesn't need the stories to make himself seem more courageous. He doesn't need the lies to get himself out of difficult situations. He is a sea warrior… he just hasn't realized yet. But, one thing he wishes is that to one day, be able to drop his façade, drop his mask and let everyone see him for himself.
That… is his true wish.
His true goal.
And he hopes to reach it, before they reach One Piece.
