Ghost in the Park
"Your all still here." I observed as I stepped into the office a little after coming back from the park. Everyone meaning John, Takigawa, Ayako, Mai, and Masako. Mai being here was not wholly unexpected though. "Is there nothing better to do?"
"We just love being in your presence." Ayako snapped sarcastically. "And must we remind you why you finished your investigation early?" She snapped again indignantly.
"All though do truly appreciate your help in the investigation, I never would've imagined that you would have so much free time that you'd just start hanging out here after work." Knowing that that would cause an uproar so I'd maybe be able to leave with out Masako or Ayako attacking. Both attacked using different methods and I didn't like either.
"Are you saying that I have no life!" Ayako shouted while being restrained by Takigawa and John.
"Naru, I'd like to buy you some dinner to thank you for all the help you've given me today." Masako said as I tried to retreat.
I watched Mai's reaction. She looked stunned and repulsed. I hoped that she didn't like the idea of me and Masako going on a date. Because of her I was ready to say no. But I remembered all of the reasons I had to say yes.
"That sounds nice." Dinner did at least sound nice. She always picked the best places. I didn't fell obligated to say anything more than that.
"What! You're going?" Mai said looking even more repulsed and taken aback. I wanted to tell her that I would hate going that it would be like hell for the whole time. That I would be thinking of her the whole time.
"Of course he is." Masako said grabbing my arm. "This isn't the first time that we've gone out together Mai, just last week we saw a movie." She said turning, I could read her easily enough to know that she did not like Mai and considered her a threat. "Let's go Naru."
I tried to give Mai a look. Something that would tell her how I didn't want to go on the 'date'. 'If you really didn't want to go. You wouldn't.'
