He had seen it once before—this searching for power, Sesshoumaru thought as he stared down at his half brother in heat of battle.
He had been young, but as a demon he was strong and yet found himself only second best to the Great Dog general. Truthfully, it was not how Sesshoumaru had envisioned his childhood. He had been bred from power and thus he desired supreme power and conquest. All around him he sought it out, but all he acquired remained inapt with his intention. Day after day, he would seek it out and day after day he would return home having gained no further power. Then a thought had hit him— his father.
Sesshoumaru was no fool, the recent happenings with the audacious character, Ryukotsusei, had left his father in a weakened state, so the young lord arose to the opportunity. His plan was simple, he Sesshoumaru-sama desired the power his father possessed and so in his defeat would he take it. Or so he had hoped— for with the Great Dog Demon's death Sesshoumaru was denied the chance to appease his rivalry and sacred right as a son. Long ago bested by the very wretch that Sesshoumaru now saw before him, InuYasha— the half-breed, who burst with emotion in the current battle, while Sesshoumaru himself remained in serene. Perhaps one day the competition that had bled from father to brother would cease, but for now it would remain as Sesshoumaru took one final blow and vanished.
