A//N: Hello readers, I was very bored and I was rummaging through the bowels of my computer and I found this piece of writing for American McGee's Alice in Wonderland. I adore the game (as you can tell, which inspired my screen name ^^) I was 17 when I wrote this and I created it for an Alice RP project I was involved in, more to entertain the other role players. There are certain readers out there that don't like it when fan writers stem away from the story in the fandom they are used to seeing. If you are one of those, you might aswell not waste your time reading this. I wanted to create a gritty scene that I had not seen in the game. Anyway, I hope you enjoy my creepy one shot.

Whispers

By EerieAlice

The girl lay in her bed...motionless. She stared blankly up at the dirty un-clean ceiling, and her fingers dipped in and out from her pillow as she lay there.

Crunch.

Her head whipped to the side, and she scampered off the bed and listened to what was coming from behind the huge metallic door that was keeping her encased in the hole of a cell. Her head rested softly against the door and she listened intently, her eyes closed so she could hear it more clearly.

"Have you heard about this loonie locked in that room?" the voice asked someone.

"You haven't? You've got to be kidding me! Only seventeen and she's in ere for life..."

The girl's heart wrenched.

"What exactly did she do to get in here?" another voice asked back.

"She set her house on fire, locking her poor Mother and Father inside. They found her unconscious on one of the hills, no mark on her, her Mam and Dad were long gone, but she said she didn't remember a thing...my words, she's lying."

The girl glared angrily and she felt like pounding down the door.

"The girl kept talking about a place called Wonderland, and that she needed to get there because her friends were in trouble...some place," the voice began to laugh.

"So...what have the doctors' diagnosed her with?" the other voice asked.

"Well I don't know exactly, but whispers around the asylum say she has loads of things, schizophrenia, spilt personality disorder, even the tad of pyro-bloody-mania," the voice retorted.

"Wow! What are you going to do with her?" the other voice asked.

"The best we can."

The girl sneered and listened in harder.

"While I was cleaning up, I heard the doctors' talking about giving her electro-shock therapy," the voice said with pleasure.

The girl's body jolted up in fear, and her eyes widened as her mouth began to shake.

"Yeah, she's going to ride the lightning. They'll be happy that bugger's gone...come on I'll show you another one..." the voice trailed off and she heard them going off down the corridor.

The girl slid down the door in shock, she wasn't mad, she hadn't killed her parents it was by accident, and the cat toppled over the candle on her night stand! She was not going to stay in this place for her whole entire life! She had to get out.

The girl dashed to her window, the crackling of thunder pounded down and she could hear the slight patter of rain on the window, from her pocket she sneakily snaked out her knife and she messed with the locks. She ripped them off and hauled the window open, she climbed out and she slammed it.

Her hair was immediately strung from the rain; she clasped her arms around herself and ran into the groups of trees. She stood there; looking from the asylum, there was no in hell she was going back there. She turned her back on the place she hated and faced the long stretch of trees that seemed to go on for eternity. With one huge breath of the pure air, she took off deep into the forest, having no idea where she was going, just as the day was going to draw into night…
