Ah, Sharkbite Shores. A well-known dock famous for its many boats, cruise ships, and pirate ships. Pirates seem to be one of the main drawing factors to this place, as many people come here to tour the pirate locals. But another main reason why people come here is for the Sharkbite Pier, an amusement park boardwalk featuring many attractions, including a wooden roller coaster. Both plants and humans come here to just have fun and not worry about any attacks whatsoever.
However, there was one person, zombie to be specific, that wanted to cause mayhem to this fun park. That person was Impfinity, one of the zombies affected by the Hero-tron. He was given the power to duplicate himself infinitely. He rose from the ground near the entrance and took notice.
"Ugh, happy plants!" he said. "Next thing you know it would be sunny. But, no matter! Time to multiply!"
With that, he pressed the button on his chest repeatedly, already causing ten Impfinity Clones to appear out of thin air. All the other plants took notice of this and began dispersing quickly as the clones quickly overwhelmed the boardwalk. The Peashooter Manager took notice of this and pressed a button under his desk.
Meanwhile, back in Suburbia, some of the Plant Heroes were relaxing in the Backyard Base. Green Shadow was getting some well-deserved rest, Solar Flare was playing on her Nintendo Switch, Grass Knuckles was getting some target practice to improve his precision, and Wall-Knight was working on a gift for Rose. That's when they all heard a noise and saw a leaf symbol in the sky…
"It's the Hero signal!" exclaimed Wall-Knight. The four heroes rushed to the house at the top of the base's tree to receive their mission. When they all made it, they received their mission from Cornmissioner Kernel Corn.
"Hello, everyone! How are you all doing?" he asked.
"Great!" everyone said simultaneously.
"Good. Anyway, we have reports of Impfinity invading the Sharkbite Pier. He's taken over the park, kicked almost everyone out, and stole someone else's piece of cake!"
"*GASP* The fiend!" said Wall-Knight.
"I'll say," said Solar Flare. "Sometimes there are just too many of them! I find some of them to be OP to be honest."
"Have you been playing Plants vs. Zombies 2 again?"
"Yes, and when you play Battlez, they can pretty much be some of the most annoying zombies in the game!"
Once Solar Flare finished her brief rant, the four Heroes prepared to fight. They started up the portal, set the destination for Sharkbite Shores, and head off.
When they all arrived at the Pier, they saw just how many clones were invading the park, they were pretty much enough to fill up every ride there. They all spread out to try and combat a handful of the clones each.
"It's time that you beware the shadow!" said Green Shadow as she readied herself for some Plasma Peas and Precision Blast. As one of the faster Heroes, she was able to swiftly attack each clone accurately. She also used her trusty grappling hook to latch onto the roofs and attack from above.
"Let's turn up the heat!" said Solar Flare as she put on her goggles and lit herself up. She then used her pyrokinesis to scorch some of clones to ash. Helping her with this is the fact that, because she is on fire, she is the light in the darkness, helping her see the clones coming and burning them up.
"It's time to knuckle down!" Grass Knuckles said.
"Go ahead and hit me! I'm uncrackable!" said Wall-Knight.
Grass Knuckles and Wall-Knight decided to team-up to take on the clones. Grass Knuckles started throwing down punches precisely at each clone. Protecting him from other clones that were sneakier than others was Wall-Knight, who was in his shield. While not in full Uncrackable mode, he can use it for a short time until it needs to be recharged.
Despite putting up a good fight, there were just too many clones being duplicated. That's when Solar Flare noticed where the clones were coming from.
"Hey Green Shadow! His belt is how they're coming back!"
"Good eye! I'm on it!" said Green Shadow as she prepared to shoot a Precision Blast. She shot directly for the button on his belt, causing all of the clones to disappear. Impfinity had lost.
"Nice job team!" said Cornmissioner Kernel Corn. "You've put Impfinity behind bars! Or, in this case, restraints." Impfinity was actually locked in a roller-coaster car. As the team congratulated themselves, Impfinity somehow managed to escape. By using the coaster car. As a ROCKET.
"Um…" said Grass Knuckles. "WHAT JUST HAPPENED?!"
"I have no idea," said Solar Flare. "But, I'm sure it won't be long before he's back for more."
"Really?" asked Green Shadow. "How can you be sure?"
"As an active comic book reader, I take part in identifying the many tropes used in these types of stories. Here's one of them: the villain HAS to make a return somehow. He can't just appear once and never show up again."
"Well, this really isn't one of those fictional stories made by other people. This is real life… right?"
They all stood for a moment, pondering over this, and decided to go home.
AU: So… how about that fourth-wall break? Anyway, I have gotten so many good reviews on Calling All Heroes that I decided to make another fanfiction based on the missions. I think there will be at least 20 chapters, one for each hero, with interchanging views between Plant and Zombie Heroes. So the next chapter will probably be about Green Shadow (Battle at the BBQ).
I also had another idea for a fanfiction while I was out at Six Flags today. I am thinking of a sequel to Calling All Heroes that kind of focuses on the lives of both Plants and Zombie Heroes as they undergo this new change in their lives. (This might sound… weird out of context but it's not what you think.
On a final note, I also like to vision the Plants vs. Zombies franchise as something based on a true story. So all of the games and comics from the series? They exist in-universe. Hence the PvZ 2 reference with the Battlez jab.
Okay I think I'm done.
