Jason

(Before you read, read the short story Son of Sobek, by Rick Riordan. Without it, most of this story will not make sense.)

Jason had barely closed his eyes when the dream found him. At first, Jason wasn't sure what he was looking at. Darkness rolled across his vision, rippling like some kind of polluted sea. It moved in a hypnotic motion, silent but calming. It was only when Jason realized the ripples were moving in erratic patterns that they were not ripples of water. Jason began to make out vague figures, just below the surface of the shadows. Jason couldn't help but count them. Seven. Something about this fact gave Jason a feeling that this was no coincidence. In fact, the longer he watched the figures, the more convinced he became that they were the seven. Each one of those figures were one of Jason's friends. One of them was Jason.

No sooner had Jason thought of this when he realized the figures were motioning as though they were fighting. They were in fighting formation, but seemed to be fighting a losing battle. Even though Jason couldn't see the invisible attackers, he quickly came to the conclusion his friends were in trouble. Suddenly, out of nowhere, one of the figures crumpled. The body twisted in ways that it shouldn't have. Even in a dream, Jason could tell that the person was dead. This caused the largest figure, who was in the middle of the formation, to charge forward in rage, slicing every which way. One of the figures tried to follow, but was pulled back into a retreat by the others. The figure in front looked behind, and gestured something. The group must have understood, because they began to retreat quickly until Jason could no longer see them.

The large figure was now alone, and a glow began to grow around him as he fought the invisible entity. The fight seemed to go back and forth, with the figure making ground at one point, but being pushed back at others. After awhile though, Jason began to realize the inevitable outcome. As the lone figure began to move more sluggishly, the invisible entity seemed to move faster. Considering he couldn't see it, Jason didn't know how he knew that, but he could sense it. Suddenly, the fight was over. The figure was launched backwards, landing on its back. The figure, rather than reaching for his nearby pila, grabbed something from his shirt. Some kind of chip? The figure then brought out a lighter and lit up the chip. The chip grew an intense white, and Jason could literally feel heat coming off it. The darkness around the figure suddenly began to burn away, and color started to seep into the image. Creatures suddenly began to appear, until a massive army appeared. But that didn't bother Jason. What bothered him was while the chip turned to ash, and the monsters burned from the fire, Frank Zhang, praetor of the legion, crumpled to the floor dead.

The dream shifted. It was the same place as before, but the sun was shining. There were no signs from the previous fight accept for a single bronze pila. Lying next to the pila was some kind of creature that Jason couldn't quite see. The entire area was full of blooming flowers and pink bonsai trees. Jason could smell Jasmine in the air, and if it hadn't been for what he had just witnessed, he would probably be extremely relaxed. But the calmness didn't last for long. After a period of time, someone trudged into the field. Jason recognized it as Percy. But something was different. Percy seemed more energetic, as though it had been a long while since Tartarus. Percy called something out, but Jason couldn't quite make it out. A female's voice yelled back, until a female Jason didn't recognize ran into the field.

"Look." Percy said, pointing to the snake.

"It's true then. This is where the fate of the world must be decided." The mysterious figure noted in awe. Jason couldn't help but notice she spoke with a light British accent. Suddenly, a face appeared in the ground. It was everyone's favorite person, Gaea. The earth rumbled around Percy and the mysterious girl drew a…wand? Gaea began to laugh as storm clouds drew overhead, but the girl drew some kind of blazing gold image in the air while saying something in a language Jason didn't understand. Whatever it was that she did, the clouds began to rapidly dissipate, while Gaea sunk back into the ground. Who was this girl?

Before Jason could ponder further, the image started to fade as light seeped into his mind, and Jason opened his eyes. What had he just witnessed? He had thought the last couple days had been weird. Though he had his doubts at times, his friends Percy and Annabeth somehow pulled through Tartarus. He thought that was the greatest thing that he had ever witnessed. But a girl who had the ability to sink Gaea into the ground? That might even top what Annabeth and Percy went through. Whoever this girl was, she was clearly no demigod.

Just then, there was a knock on Jason's door. "Breakfast time sleepyhead." Piper shouted in an unusually cheerful voice. Jason walked over to the door and opened it. When he saw Piper, he suddenly felt so much gratitude to have her with him that he pulled her into his arms and gave her a lengthy kiss on the lips. Finally, Jason pulled a way, a smile on his face. But it was only momentary relief, and he felt rather guilty of haven forgotten about his dream, if only for a moment.

Unfortunately, Piper knew him much too well and said "What is it?"

Jason just glanced at her, and she got the message. Later. "Alright… Well, let's go upstairs. We finally got some good news." Piper said cheerily. Jason had a feeling that by Good News, Piper meant that for once, nothing had tried to kill them as they flew over the Ionian Sea.
