AUTHORS NOTE: I've just started watching Body of Proof for the second time and this is little drabble hit me after the little scene in episode three: Helping Hand when Megan is asking Ethan about his "interests" that Curtis told her about. It's short and sweet but I do plan on writing more stories at a later date.
DISCLAIMER: I don't own the characters
[Idolising Dr. Hunt]
Ethan Gross idolised Dr. Megan Hunt.
It was nice to work with a woman in the medical examiners office especially seeing as she was sometimes more determined to catch the murderers than the detectives were, no offence to Bud and Sam as they did wonderful jobs, but the other medical examiner's hadn't cared about finding out about the why. They did the autopsies, and just the basic autopsy too because they listened to Kate and her stupid budget rows, then handed the information over to the detectives before retiring to their office with a cup of tea. Ethan had always felt useless working with them.
Now, however, Dr. Hunt involved him. She took his opinion seriously when working on a body and she even allowed him to help her. That's how he'd noticed the way she had her tools set out and the way that she took care of the victims that rested on their tables. She pretty much treated them as if they were still alive and he liked that about her.
He knew Curtis was cracking jokes that they'd all become "Nancy Drew" since she'd joined the team but he enjoyed it. He liked finding out the why behind a crime as much as he enjoyed being a part of the beginning, the one that finds out what happened, he liked to see into the dark minds of those that had committed the crimes and to feel that sense of satisfaction knowing that another body was being laid to rest.
She'd been badly hurt, both professionally and physically, after her accident and she'd been shunned by everyone she loved – her friends, her husband and her daughter – but that never got in her way when she was working. Some people would say that she was cold because she didn't take an interest. He believed that she was just driven. The kind of driven that someone should be when in this career. And when she did try to make an effort with her work colleagues, everyone teased her or just thought that she wasn't being serious so they shut her off. He, however, wanted to make an effort.
Tapping on her window, he smiled as he moved into her office. "Um, Doctor Hunt?" He said nervously as the red head looked up at him, her pen stilling on her notepad as she waited for him to continue, "I was wondering if, when you were finished your paperwork obviously, if you would like to go grab something to eat?" She continued looking at him and he blushed. "I mean, we've been locked up in the lab all day and I'm sure we're both pretty hungry so I thought we'd grab something seeing as we're friends." She looked at him shocked before relaxing into the smile that you hardly saw.
"That would be lovely. I'm on my last piece of paperwork. How about I come find you when I'm done?" She said with a smile and he answered with a nod before starting to bow back out of her office. "Oh Ethan," he ducked back in and looked at her, "thanks." It was said so sincerely and he couldn't help but smile as he left, closing the door behind him.
Yes, Ethan Gross idolised Megan Hunt and would enjoy sharing a friendship with her.
