An Innocent Game

"Will you play with me?"

He looked like one of her broken toys, all torn up...

She giggled as she watched the human squirm, her footsteps a tap-tap-tap that seemed to sound louder than his gut-wrenching cries of mercy. She was slowly approaching... approaching...

She wasn't done playing, after all. She still didn't have enough. A game only ends when she decides it was. A game, a game, a game.

…Oh, were those tears? But this was just a game. Games were fun. Not something to cry about.

So what if she made a playful tug at his arms? Or what if she simply gave the human a bone-crunching hug as her sign of affection? A gleeful tackle? She was just having her fun, after all. Why couldn't he just laugh along and enjoy it, too?

Really, he was being a kill-joy.

She bent over, peering at her playmate-a sorry thing, really, but she wasn't aware of that-with a wide smile on her lips. Her sharp fangs glinted as her smile grew even wider, and another giggle erupted from her. Now that she noticed it, he looked real funny. He resembled her plush toys, ripped up at the stitches, its stuffing leaking out…

She straightened herself and took one more step.

And the floor was wet and sticky, she realized as she heard a light splash, curiously looking down in response. And... funny, it was as red as her eyes... Scarlet, scarlet, scarlet. Like her last name.

She blinked and looked at him again, deciding that whatever spilled on the floor was unimportant.

Quietly, she whispered, "Let's play another game…"
