Breathe.
Count to ten.
But it doesn't always help…
He's a monster.
He'll blacken my heart.
Break my soul.
He'll tear me up and bring me down.
My work.
My pride.
I'm broken again…
Without him,
I'm better…
A better Banner.
Timid.
Hard working.
Quiet Banner.
But, he's always there,
Bubbling under the surface.
He waits.
Bides his time.
Then flares.
A flame of lurid green.
I scream inside.
My every fibre burns.
Bones break…
Reform.
Organs fail simultaneously.
Changing under duress.
My eyes…
Gone.
The last part of my humanity slips away.
And I'm gone.
No more than a beast beneath the skin…
