Chapter 1- Here lies (wo)men and monsters

Power is like being a lady…if you have to tell people you are, you aren't- Margaret Thatcher

Once upon a time, there was a beautiful girl that would become the most feared villain in all the land, and would rein over first the underworld, and then the government. If she had been a man, her destiny would have been marked by failure, but hers would be only marked by great triumph.

Her name is Mary Marvel Riddle. She would later adopt the title of Lady Voldemort.

Mary hates rabbits. She despises Billy Stubbs. Billy is fifteen, and terrifying to most of the younger girls, and a few of the boys, and rumors abound with his sexual tastes. He likes them young.

Mary had been sent to her room without dinner once for smacking him when he tried to have her. That was the day that she realized that she has to protect herself.

So, Mary begins to plan the best way to dispose of Billy Stubbs.

She finds out about the rabbit on a Thursday. The rabbit was a gift from Billy's older sister- nineteen and working nights on a corner- and he treasures the damn thing. He's hidden it in a barn two miles away from the orphanage, and Billy visits it every other day.

Mary scopes the place out when Billy doesn't go, and examines the curious white rabbit inside the hutch. It twitches its nose at her, and Mary twitches her nose right back. She has a plan now, and tomorrow will be spent gathering what she needs.

Two days after she goes to the barn, she has a short piece of rope and a stepstool. The stepstool is not big enough to reach the barn rafters, but she'll find a way to make her plan work. Mary ties the rope around the rabbit's neck, and tugs it so it's tight around its throat. The rope twitches,

Mary stops looking at the rafters and looks at the rope. It twitches again, before rising, choking the rabbit and tied itself to the rafters.

Mary smiled.

The next day, in the late afternoon, Billy has big, fat enormous tears running down his face, splashing down at his feet. He's wailing, and Mary, from her small corner smiles. At the end of the hour, everyone knows what happened. By the end of the day, everyone knows that Mary killed the rabbit.

Billy stops going anywhere near the little kids.

Mary turns nine the day after that. She likes the birthday present she gives to herself- a small rabbit's foot.

Amy Benson and Dennis Bishop, two new arrivals to the orphanage taunt Mary about her short hair.

On the next sea-side trip, Mary shows them her cave.

They aren't the same ever again.

Several days after Mary's eleventh birthday, she receives a visitor.

His name is Albus Dumbledore and he is a wizard.

Mary smiles.

So, for those Harry Potter fans among my Jays and Robins community, hi! Welcome to Ripping off Wings of Butterflies, wherein lies a female Voldemort, and her back-story. No, I have no idea where that came from, and frankly my brain scares me with this. She (he? Whatever) will be the only (Maybe, Harry might get turned into a girl) genderbent character in the story. I don't see this being very long, but hell; my muse just might flip me the bird and make it longer.
