Inspired from the last episode of Season 6 of the awesome show "Scrubs." I just had to write this!

The clouds streaked across the sky, which was illuminated like a vast painting across the ceiling above us. It was like being out in the open, apart from the fact it was just us two lying in a narrow, single bed upstairs and there wasn't a breath of coldness in the air, but instead a dull heat from downstairs.

"Think they know where we are?"

"Not a clue." He mumbled, the moonlight from outside casting elegant shadows across his face. His hair, usually so vibrant under that gaseous mass in space that shone upon us, was unusually yet familiarly pale.

"Shouldn't the bride be with the groom?" He asked, turning on his side slightly to gaze at me.

"Shouldn't you be at home, all warmed up and wondering whether or not Maya's the one?"

Chase laughed silently. "I'm not the one getting married tomorrow."

"Ugh. Don't remind me."

"Come on. At least you managed to haggle me into best man position. Can't miss that."

"Yeah, I suppose so. And what about you? Maya will be wanting to settle down."

"Mainland cooking academy, did you forget about that?"

"And the fact you will be leaving me in less than a month."

I knew what was running through our heads right then, as we lay in the narrow single bed barely big enough for one person, let alone two. The joyous party downstairs mumbled away, completely and utterly oblivious to the two best friends laying and fretting upstairs. The worry had finally sunk in until I was left in a drained, laughable mood.

"I don't want to go through with this. Tomorrow night, I'll be Calvin's wife." I cringed at the thought, and Chase wrapped his long fingers around mine gently. A soft squeeze lit up my face with a small smile.

"I'll be beside you tomorrow."

"You'll have left a month later."

Someone's booming voice could be heard, laughing and hooting in an annoying way. The sound drifted into the room, mingled with the still air and faded out slowly.

"I'd take you with me if I could."

"And we could study cooking together? Glorious."

"Maybe not that. You could have a little farming job on the side. They have a lot of countryside over there."

"I'll visit and see for myself."

"With Calvin, of course." Chase stated, a hint of boredom in his voice.

"Maybe we can hook Maya up with him and do us all good."

"And then where would that leave us?"

The moonlight seemed to drift away for a second, probably due to the cloud spotted night. A lighter version of darkness fell upon us until, when the moon reappeared to paint yet another image onto us, we were both facing each other. Fingers entwined, eyes relaxed and lips puckered, moving closer by the minute.
