I'm doing a new story; it's about before the clans were made.

A black cat with icy blue eyes stood at the top of a ravine, staring ahead into the cold, murky darkness. The roaring wind tore at her sleek fur, but she didn't move.

"Lightning, come forth!"She yowled into the dreary valley and out of a bush, nearby a nettle patch, came a gray tabby with striking yellow eyes.

"What is your reason to call me Night?"The young tom asked, his voice getting carried off by the wind.

"I am worried that Thunder's gang is going to attack us," Night told the tom, "They fight with the cunning of TigerClan, the speed of LeopardClan and of course the strength of LionClan."

"Fight back!"The tom called back, his un-sheathed claws glinting against the faint moonlight.

"Lightning, you know we are powerless," Night sighed, "I am untrained and you're well...blind."

Lightning's fur bristled. He ran up to Night and stared at her through un-seeing eyes.

"Then we shall ask to join them," he said. Night looked away from him.

"We could," he protested, "Hasn't your sister already joined him-"

"But that's because my sister is actually useful," Night snapped, small tears in her eyes, "It's stupid to think of asking to join!"

"Well you're on your own then!"Lightning spat back. He ran off, and eventually went out of sight.

Night sat down, slightly angry with Lightning for just abandoning her like that. She pondered over her problem with Thunder before she heard paw steps behind her. She turned around just in time to see a large black cat leap on top of her. The she-cat's claws were un-sheathed, and they made bleeding gashes down Night's side.

This was Shadow.

"Oh look," Shadow sneered, "It's a little defenceless she-cat out on her own."

Night squirmed under the muscled she-cat's grip, but she couldn't escape. She was trapped.

"Let me go," Night breathed.

Shadow smiled a menacing smile. She tightened her hold on Night slightly.

"Shadow...please!"Night pleaded. Shadow looked as if she would lean over and bite Night's neck, but she looked as if she was thinking hard. In the end, she got off Night.

"Come on," Shadow grumbled, "Follow me"

When Night got up she could hardly feel her paws. She followed obediently after Shadow. She was led though dark pine forests until they reached a thorn tunnel. Shadow indicated with her tail that they were going through and Night felt sharp thorns at her side until she felt muddy ground beneath her paws.

She was now in a hollow surrounded by brambles. Four cats were already there. They turned their hostile gazes to her as she entered.

"It's a trespasser!"A dark brown tabby hissed, his deep blue eyes blazing. He tried to bat her with a strong, unsheaved paw.

"No!"Shadow's voice echoed through the hollow. The tabby tom stopped at once, his paw in mid-air.

"But Shadow, she's an intruder"

"Or a guest," Shadow snarled back, "I invited her."

The tom didn't argue, though another cat did.

"Why would you bring that mangy cat here?"A skinny gray she-cat mewed.

"Because we need an extra hunter," Shadow explained.

Night's heart skipped a beat. She didn't know how to hunt!
