Your rage was what
I never could match
Your soul like smoke,
A flame no one could catch.
You fought every day
With me or the crooks
It killed you at last
Your blood runs like babbling brooks
But you never ceased,
From harm you kept us
Despite that we angered you
And often led you to a well placed cuss.
In the end that's what you did,
You saved all our lives
But it destroyed all our hearts
To see you hurt by so many knives.
With sobs in our throats
And with tears in our eyes
We held you so tight
As we said our goodbyes
I look into your amber eyes,
Damn, there's so much I could say
But in you I see nothing but love
So I hug you close as you fade away
I guess we don't need words
To say we love each other
But as you slip away I say,
"I love you, my brother."
Then your flame finally went out…
And I am lost without it.
