I frowned at Angel. She was making those eyes again. Her, Nudge, and Gazzy wanted to go in this crazy huge toy store in New York City. I sighed and looked over at Fang, who was grimacing at the large, life-size teddy bear in the display window. We were supposed to be lying low…but I guess the kids needed a break.

"Ugh…Fine. Only, like, 15 minutes." I sighed, and Fang did too. Iggy, well, I don't think he really cared.

We walked in, and Gazzy and Angel took off. Nudge sort of hung back. Fang walked off with Iggy to go do something, so me and Nudge traveled through the many colorful aisles.

I was scoping the place for Erasers…so far, it seemed good.

Yet, of course, something had to come and ruin it.

But, hey, at least it wasn't some how, related to us.

I guess some kid was messing around, and they knocked over some huge display of legos, and soon he was buried by them. But, soon some news crew came when they were trying to get him out, and we make a quick getaway.

We flew over to yet another busy area, filled with a million cars and lights and buildings. We stopped in to a coffee shop; before we were gonna go find somewhere to crash.

I was standing in line, and when I turned around Nudge was talking to some girl. I almost went crazy protective, but then I realized, hey. Nudge really didn't get to the…normal girl tween stuff. Well, not that I really knew what that included, but…

Well, anyway I left it alone, and turned back around.

Then a heard a gasp. I spun around fast.

Nudge was looking crazy shocked, and had dropped her drink on the ground.

OH, shit.

NUDGE. :)

I looked at all the CD's on the rack, trying to remember any of the band names on them. I couldn't.

I felt a tap on my shoulder, and turned around. A girl, probably a little younger than Iggy, and older than me was standing there, looking nervous. She had longish wavy dark brown hair. She looked like a mangy street kid; like us. Bangs hung in her eyes, and her eyes were big and green. She was nervously biting her lip.

She smiled, shyly. "Hi. I'm Jack…"

I couldn't resist talking to the girl, even if Max would get pissed off. I longed for interaction with some one else besides the flock and Erasers and the School. I grinned back, and she looked relieved. "Hey! I'm Nudge."

Jack smiled, and but her eyes looked sad. She looked down then back up. "I know." She said, in a wispy voice, and even I almost didn't hear.

"Wha…? Excuse me?" Of course. Any time I try to have a regular conversation.

The girl looked away, and then smiled sadly as she turned to look at me again. "I'm Jeb's daughter."

And that's when I dropped the searing coffee on my feet.
