Ellie

I felt the wind whip through my hair as I ran, disappearing into the shadows of the aboratorium. The vegetation became thicker and more unruly as I went deeper and deeper into the thick overgrowth of trees. I could feel the temperature drop significantly from the humid air outside of the jungle I was now running through.

As I neared the thickest part of the woods, my ipod abruptly died, leaving me in the silence of the trees. I realized that I was near the path that led down to the ravine so I started picking my way through the brush until I reached the bolder. Then I sat down and listened to the quietness of the woods until I almost feel asleep.

My eyes started closing, then the stillness of the ravine was broken by a twig snapping. My eyes popped open and I froze. A spine chilling laugh filled the air and I was out of the woods by the time you could say, "Excalibur."

I walked through the door, running up the stairs that led to my room, changed into my swimsuit, and went outside to float. The phone rang shattering the sound of the birds chirping. I got up and grabbed the phone.

"Hello?" I asked.

"Hello. Is Elaine Harrison there?"

"Yes. Who is this?"

"This is Jean Wagner. I was just calling to tell you, um, so you know how Marco, is, well in jail?"

"Yes, ma'am"

"Well yesterday he escaped."

I gasped and almost dropped the phone. "Thank you for the information Mrs. Wagner. I better be going. Goodbye."

"Goodbye."

Thank you for reading. This is my first story, so comments will be helpful. I'm not sure if Marco would escape, so, you know. Please review!
